Does The Scent Of Camphor Essential Oil Really Boost Your Libido?

Penetrating, powerful, lasting, and “menthol” are just some of the words being used to describe the scent of camphor essential oil. Personally among the description used, I like the word “intense” the most.  Due to the strong scent of white camphor essential oil, some claim that it can stimulate some part of the brain that helps you to boost your libido.

Camphor oil scent as an aphrodisiac

I’ve seen some sites that suggest Camphor Oil scent can serve as an aphrodisiac so I wanted to know if it has the same on me. So I made a cotton ball experiment, and I was able to write my description of camphor oil’s scent. (Note: I’m not an expert Aromachologist nor a “nose” so I could only describe it based on the scents I can associate it with.

Camphor essential oil’s scent for me is like a combination of tea tree oil’s smell + a bit of minty scent with a touch of sour or lemony scent. The camphor oil smell did not stimulate my sensual desires however, I still think that it can be an effective stimulant in other ways. Here are some of my assumptions and considerations when using Camphor oil as an aphrodisiac.

1. Sole or blend

As for me, smelling Camphor oil’s scent alone did not stimulate anything in me. However, finding other essential oils that would complement it might have a different effect. If you blend camphor oil with other fragrant oil, sit scent might boost your libido.

2. Inhalation or Topical (method of application)

As I’ve said earlier the scent of camphor oil did not make me feel “sensual” hence making me think that inhalation of camphor oil may not be effective for people like me. However, this does not mean that it is not effective at all. If the inhalation method does not work for you too, then maybe we can consider the topical application. Maybe if I applied it to my skin and feel the cooling sensation it provides plus smell it’s the scent, then it might boost our libido. As of now, I don’t know, but I’d like to try it out soon. If it does, I would try to update this post.

3. Shoulders or Toes?  (Part of the body it must be applied on)

If I applied some balm or blend oils containing camphor oil on my feet would I get aroused? How about if I applied some on my scalp would I be turned on? Would rub some diluted camphor oil on my stomach or legs will make it more of an effective stimulant? I think this is a topic that every essential oil enthusiast and aromatherapist can consider studying about. if an essential oil is being recommended that it can be an aphrodisiac, I think It would be interesting to know which part of the body it should be best applied to see its effectiveness. Knowing where is the right place it must be applied will enable us to provide better instruction to our family, friends, or clients (if you are an aromatherapist) who are suffering from low libido.

4. Ladies or Gentlemen  (Gender)

Is camphor oil more effective as an aphrodisiac for men or women? I think this is another point that we have to consider too.

I like how the website Health Benefits Times explained how camphor oil can help men who have erectile problems

“It (referring to Camphor oil) functions by stimulating the part of the brain that is liable for stimulating sex drive. Whenever applied in the area, it may also assist to heal erectile problems simply by growing blood circulation towards the affected parts.”

After reading this explanation, I realized that maybe camphor oil is a more effective stimulant to increase libido for men than women. As for my personal experience, I didn’t feel any “urge” when I smelled it but maybe applying it topically MIGHT be effective even though I’m a woman.
If it is not effective for me, this does not mean it wouldn’t work for other women. If it is effective for other ladies, then maybe it is good to research the age range, economic background, or health condition of women that it would be most effective to

Finding the right aphrodisiac essential oil

Going back to the question “Does the scent of Camphor essential oil boost your libido?”

Maybe it depends on the person who smells. I can only speak for myself. I don’t know how it affects others. That’s for you to answer.

If camphor oil is not effective for people like me, I know that other essential oils can offer the same therapeutic properties. It’s nice to find and learn more about the right essential oil that would work for us.

Cheers! 💋❤
