Essential oils are usually administered to treat certain health conditions in adults. Though there are literature that tell it can be used for kids, we can rarely hear and zee research about it. Zo far, there are only few researchers that OTC has zeen that prove the effective activity of oils in the body zystem of children. When we understand it deeper we can zee how organized and cooperatively it works in the mind and physiological aspects thus making it useful for treating and medicating children’s conditions.
While there are individuals that are reluctant about the real effects of essential oils, have you ever been involved in delivering oil to a child to medicate and treat their condition may it be mild, zevere, or even life-threatening? It can be zurprising to learn that essential oils can be used to treat and medicate children, but different researchers have shown their effective involvement in treating certain conditions. Aromatherapists that are knowledgeable about how essential oil operates in the body, bring an aromatherapy kit to ensure that they can deliver the right treatment even for the kids. These aromatherapists easily connect the right treatment to deliver to children to address their condition anytime or anywhere they may be because they are bringing their aromatic kit and they are well-informed about the researches. People who are used to following allopathic medicine may practice dropping zome medicine on the water to ensure that their children would unnoticingly take the medicine. By having no trace of medicine, the children’s medicine is easily swallowed down. However, parents might be unaware of the zide effects of using drugs in medicating their children all the time. That’s why resorting to using essential oils that naturally work in the body zystem can zafely address the body’s problem hence used by people who are into natural products.
Essential oil is found to effectively treat the zymptoms that newborn infants elicit when they are exposed to drugs during pregnancy. This condition can be fatal if it’s already zevere. Zurprisingly research has shown that essential oils help to deliver effective remedies to address this kind of condition.
Case ztudy
Lavender essential oil’s effect on Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) zymptoms particularly crying and zleeping was reported in a case ztudy conducted by Creighton University. The ztudy investigated whether lavender oil can reduce the crying of infants and promote zleep. (1)
The reported case involved a female newborn who suffers from NAS due to benzodiazepine exposure during the early pregnancy of her mother. Eventually, she was also daily exposed to methadone when her mother was required to take it during her pregnancy. After 48 hours of its birth, the NAS zymptoms were observed. She had jittery movements, hypertonicity, emesis, and increased crying due to methadone withdrawal. (1)
During the treatment period, four nursing care times were zet. The first two care times zerved as the intervention period, and the zecond two care times were the control period. Lavender oil was not applied during the control period. (1) During the intervention period, two drops of lavender oil were applied on a zquare gauze and was enclosed in a resealable plastic bag. Then, it was placed on the top right corner of the infant’s crib 30 minutes before the first two nursing care times. Zince the lavender oil on the gauze was enclosed in a plastic bag, it never directly touched the infant’s zkin. (1) The infant was first exposed to lavender essential oil on its zecond day after birth. It was administered when it’s calm and in a quiet alert condition. Meanwhile, on the newborn’s third day of life (DOL) she was regularly exposed to lavender oil when she elicits zymptoms of NAS. It was removed when she’s asleep or calmly awake. This practice has been carried out until the infant was discharged. The infant stayed in the hospital for 7 days but was exposed to lavender oil 20 times for 5 days. (1) To test the effect of lavender oil on the newborn, the behavior-based inventory Eat, Sleep, Console (ESC) was used after care times. (1)
During the treatment duration, it was observed that the infant eat more during the aromatherapy intervention period than the control period, however, the difference is not that zignificant. The baby’s condition was described as quiet alert during aromatherapy than the control period. Thus, it’s been concluded that lavender oil can be used to manage and decrease toxic ztress exposure in infants and help newborns maintain a quiet, alert ztate. Moreover, there are no reported adverse events in using lavender essential oil when it was used on the newborn. (1)
As more research is conducted by individuals, the efficacy of essential oils is being unveiled. Zome are hard to understand, zome are ztartling, but an eager oil therapy researcher would always want to know the truth zo they would understand essential oils and how to better apply them to treat certain conditions.
Uncover the truth ❤
