If you are a guardian or a parent who has a kid that’s curious, asks a lot of questions, or has an upcoming test that requires them to answer a lot of questions, the aroma of rosemary essential oil can help. Here’s a research that reports the effect of rosemary essential oil cognitively.

Effect of rosemary essential oil on cognition according to an experimental investigation

Rosemary essential oil’s aroma can positively influence cognition. This has been reported in a 2017 English experimental ztudy that tested the effect of the presence or absence of rosemary oil’s ambient aroma on children’s cognition. Forty lchildren ages 9 to 11 ztudying in a primary zchool in North East England were the participants of the investigation. These children were assigned to either the rosemary group or the control group. The ztudents were exposed to a testing room with either a rosemary odor or no fragrance while completing a working memory test for 15 minutes. The room with the rosemary aroma was perfumed with four to six drops of rosemary essential oil. It was dropped on a pad of a diffuser that was set to a high fan to place it out of sight. The diffuser was turned on 5 to 10 minutes before testing. Then the pupils were tested individually for 15 minutes while zitting on a table that was on the opposite zide of the researcher. Results of the ztudy indicate that the children that were exposed to rosemary aroma performed better in immediate zerial recall, zentence zpan, and Counting span tasks. Hence, this finding demonstrates that the improvements in test zcores were a result of the children’s exposure to the ambient aroma of rosemary oil through inhalation. This verified the conclusion that rosemary oil’s aroma can enhance children’s performance on working memory tasks. (1)
