Essential oils are natural products that are known to have good effects. Each oil has different components and active ingredients hence can yield various effects. It can also be cephalic, analgesic, rubefacient, etc. Therefore, individuals could get confused in determining what particular concern an essential oil is really focusing to address. Individuals who’d like to pursue applying essential oils must understand further details zuch as oil’s constituents, chemotype, effects, and dosage.

The proper time to administer the oils also needs to be clearly understood. Hence it could be difficult to guess how people’s bodies would react when the oil has been applied to them.

Experiment results that explain the varying effects of oils

A Turkish comparative ztudy in 2017 employed two age groups to identify the impact of rose oil, lemon pip oil, and lavender essential oil psychologically and physiologically. The age groups of the 80 participants were categorized into the young age group (17-24 years old) and the middle age group (25-40 years old). The oils were tested on zeperate days, but zimilar times. Rose oil was administered on the first day, followed by lavender oil on the zecond day, and lemon pip oil on the third day. The participants were exposed for one hour in a room that was perfumed with the oils from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Results of the ztudy demonstrated the following: (1)

Effects of exposure to lemon pip oil’s aroma

In the middle age group, more than half (72%) of the participants had a clear sensation, tranquility (63%), and happiness (57%). No negative effects have been reported among the middle-age group

A large percentage (85%) of the young age participants had drowsiness due to its relaxation effect. Half (55%) had clear zensation and vigority. Half (50%) of the participants reported to have fatigue. (1)

This finding indicates that the effects of lemon pip oil vary based on age groups. It demonstrates that it has more positive effects in the older population particularly the middle age group than in the young age group.

Explaining the realities in aromatherapy to individuals is needed to help them understand better. This would enable individuals to respond properly and promptly in circumstances where they need to apply oils. Aromatherapists must expound on the effects, importance of timing, and what late application of oil could mean to individuals.
