Tops Lookout better known as Tops sits in a mountainous village in Busay and is about ten kilometers from downtown Cebu. It offers a panoramic view of Cebu City and its surrounding areas. It is a known hangout place at night, but in my case, I visited it in the daytime. Upon visiting it in the morning, I realized it is an “any time of the day” spot. Some may find this lookout more charming at night since the restaurants and bars on it are open. However, it has features you can best marvel at during the day. Here are some of the things you can do while hanging out at Tops Lookout in the daytime.
1. Marvel at the stone architecture and circular entrances
Topps resembles a modern-day viewing deck of a fortress located on the mountain. It is concrete with interesting stone architecture. It has several circular arches that serve as the entrances making it look like a tunnel. There are coves with tables and chairs within and some indoor spaces that are used by food stalls and souvenir shops. Its plateau is designed with hexagonal rough cemented tiles and ornamented with tropical flowers and grass. Also, benches are framing the outer edges of the open area.

2. Sit on the benches and enjoy the peaceful ambiance
Topps has a cooler temperature since it is located on high land, hence, it is an excellent spot to view the city while enjoying cool fresh air. It has a serene and romantic setting that provides a tranquil retreat from the bustling commune. To immerse yourself, you may sit on one of the benches and just look at the vistas. You may also read a book, free-write on your notepad, or listen to music while enjoying the stunning view as a backdrop.

3. Stare at the panoramic view
The vantage point stands around 600 m (1,968 ft) above sea level. If you are visiting during the day, you may try to pick out the various islands you can see and identify which ones are they. The views of the communes of Mandaue and Mactan and even as far as the coast of the neighboring island of Bohol are visible during the daytime. The uninterrupted views also include scenery of the surrounding green mountains and the bustling port city below. It also highlights the sprawling city down below that features sights of high structures such as churches, universities, hotels, and a cable-stayed bridge.
4. Snap pictures
With the scenic backdrop of Cebu skyline and a unique stone structure, this lookout is legitimately a photo spot. May you want to highlight the views below, the sky above, the benches on the plateau, the unique stone structure, or even capture yourself banging the old bell, you will definitely take home a nice snapshot of your visit on Tops.

4. Have a picnic
This has become a popular picnic spot among locals and vacationers. Since there are tables on the stone building and benches on the plateau, you may consume your packed foods while enjoying the view of the city. You can have your picnic at any time of the day.

The Tops experience is a worthwhile alternative or infill between your beach days in Cebu. Mostly it is recommended to be visited at night, but seeing it during daytime allows you to enjoy its calmer version. Some may find it overrated but the views it offers justify why it has remained to be one of the well-known tourist attractions in Cebu.
