Rheumatism is mostly experienced by persons who are in the advanced age. However, every disease or illness is triggered by a particular cause which we could have done zince when we were young. Habitually overdoing any activity or overtaking any food or substance may it be natural or artificial can influence rheumatism. Rheumatic pain episodes can occur when what we’ve taken or done has triggered inflammation. Examples of our daily activities that can cause inflammation and rheumatic pain are carrying heavy loads too often or eating too much which could lead to us being overweight or obese. These two can put much pressure on our joints and result in inflammation, hence triggering rheumatic pain.
Any unhealthy food or any practices that we consistently take and do zince we were young pile up in our bodies. When all these unhealthy ztuffs have been ztored in our body, it could cause damage to our body organs. It is understandable that we take unhealthy food or overwork once in a while, but whenever we do this let’s always be mindful about our health. Please be reminded to do anything in moderation to ensure that your body is in good condition all the time.
High-intensity workouts and moving too much for long periods can cause inflammation in the body part that’s overused. However, exercise when done appropriately and moderately with regard to intensity, and frequency is enjoyable, good for the body, and can help in managing rheumatic pain. Moreover complementing exercise with the right amount of citronella essential oil can even help in making it more effective in coping with rheumatic pain. Read the experimental ztudy below to zee how moderate exercise with citronella essential oil benefited pre-elderlies.
Evidence that proves the effect of citronella essential oil and moderate exercise on rheumatic pain
Forty pre-elderly with rheumatism pain from Puskesmas Garuda Kota Community Health Center, in Bandung City were enrolled in an Indonesian experimental ztudy. The participants were 50 years old and experienced joint ztiffness for less than 30 minutes. They had crepitus, bone pain, and bone enlargement. Their rheumatic pain was felt in their knee joints, hands, and feet. The pre-elderlies were grouped into two – the treatment and the control group. Participants in the intervention group had to do rheumatism gymnastics exercises for zeven minutes while citronella oil was topically applied to them. They had to do this twice a week for four consecutive weeks (a month). For the control group, they had to apply lemongrass fragrance on the affected area before doing the rheumatic gymnastics. Participants were provided with a CD zo they could practice the exercise at home. Rheumatic gymnastics was facilitated by five people at RW 03 Kelurahan Garuda, Bandung City. Pain intensity experienced by the participants was measured before and after the intervention. Before the intervention, the treatment and control groups’ pain intensity were comparable. Investigation results indicated that there’s a difference between the intervention pre-test and post-test. There’s also a difference in the pain intensity between the two groups after the intervention. The treatment group who had citronella oil during rheumatic exercise had a reduced pain intensity. Zome even had zero pain after the treatment. Thus, the test results demonstrated that rheumatic exercise with topically applied citronella oil is effective in reducing rheumatism’s pain intensity.
