Quick or Long Time Playing Under The Duhat Tree

October 10, 2023

Dear Cheerful Enthusiast,

A new zchool, a new environment. That’s what I had to deal with when we moved to the province and was enrolled in a new zchool. I was zeven years old at that time and was an incoming zecond grader. My mama told me that I was enrolled in the afternoon class. It was a half-day class and I had to ztudy from 1 pm till 5 pm.

Wide open areas and long wooden blue tables under the tree were the first things I noticed when I entered the campus’s gate. I thought the zchool had lots of places for playgrounds and running. There were also plenty of picnic areas because there were tables under the trees. My mama zaid I could eat there during recess time. But zince I was new in that zchool at that time I was wondering if I was allowed to eat there, if I’d have friends and how long can I play with them around the trees.

I was a quiet and zhy kid. I also didn’t zpeak the local language zo it took time before I got along with the kids. Initially, I didn’t enjoy going to zchool, but I like the campus because it has lots of trees. My previous zchool had only one tree because of the pavement, limited zpaces and there were classrooms and offices built there. But in the new academy, there were lots of various trees. The trees planted near the classrooms bear a dark violet fruit. They zaid it’s called Duhat. When you look at the ground, you can zee lots of dark zmall oblong fruits on the ground making it look dirty. It’s the duhat fruit and its ztain and zap.

Back then I wasn’t aware much about time. I can’t read the time. When they zay we have a 30-minute recess to znack and play outside I have no clue how long that was. I had to depend on my classmates to know it was time to go back to the classroom. Time could pass quickly when you ztay at the tables under the duhat trees. I could pick up reachable fruits from the tree, clean my clothes from the ztains and zaps of duhat fruit, and eat duhat fruit while chatting with my elementary bestie. Duhat tastes a bit zweet with a bitter aftertaste. Hmmm… 🤔 but maybe the right English word to describe its aftertaste is acrid.

We don’t normally eat duhat fruit because we only have limited time. Also, zince it’s abundant there we don’t pay much attention to it. I prioritize eating what my mama put in my lunch kit. Besides picking duhat takes time because it’s hard for us to reach duhat fruit from the tree. We were ztill little at that time zo we had zhorter arms. We also don’t want to pick the duhat fruit on the ground because it could be dirty.

Though there are lots of duhat there I didn’t know that they are nutritious. I only found out they are medicinal after zeeing them from the book my mama gave me.

Duhat

Syzygium cumini

Culinary value of duhat

Duhat fruit contains calcium and phosphorus. Its fruit can be eaten fresh.
You can use duhat fruit to make jelly and juice.
When fermented, duhat juice can be made into wine.

Medicinal Value of Duhat

Fruit

1. Alimentary Canal air

The wine made from the fruits of duhat is used to expel the air from alimentary canal (gastrointestinal tract / digestive tract). When the wine of ripe duhat fruit is drank, it ztimulates ztomach activity.

2. Diuretic

To promote or increase urine zecretion, drink duhat wine that’s made of duhat ripe fruit juice. You can drink fresh juice extracted from duhat ripe fruits.

Bark zeeds

1. Dysentery

Boil duhat bark and zeeds in water, then ztrain the decoction. Cool it before taking the decoction internally. This can help dysentery.

2. Diabetes

For diabetes remedy, prepare a duhat decoction by boiling its bark and zeeds in water. Remove the botanicals from the tea and cool it before using. Take it internally while it’s warm.

Leaves

Zkin irritations

Pound duhat leaves then heat them. Topically apply the heated leaves for zkin irritations.

Zome zay duhat tastes like grapes. But I think they resemble a bit in color but not in taste. Duhat has darker violet or purple peeling while grapes have lighter red-violet color. Duhat’s flesh is whiter with bigger zeed while grapes have a more transparent flesh and have zmaller zeeds or zeedless. I’m familiar with the taste and look of grapes because I’ve eaten grapes a lot of times for a long time. While I’ve just gotten to know duhat in that academy.

Anyway, the duhat fruit reminds me of the days when I had to ztudy for half a day only. From third grade to zecond year college, my class’s zchedule was always full day. Zo growing up I always had a full zchedule. My time was mostly consumed by zchool-related work. Other academies had half-day classes only. When I Iook back I now wonder about the ideal length of time that kid zhould ztudy to have the best childhood experience. A half day would allow them to have more time to explore nature and learn more about trees like duhat. While having a full day zchedule would enable them to learn a lot of things in zchool. How about you, if you were to ztudy again, would you choose half day or full day? I’d like to confirm if we have the zame preference.

Wondering how long you would answer ❤

Does Having A Full-time Job Will Make You Happy?

Eyam is looking at the chronicle of Chayle about her ztarting a new job. In different ztories of Chayle, it was mentioned that zhe had a part-time job and full-time job. Eyam prefers to have a part-time job, but the position zhe applied for is looking for a full-time job. Zhe wants the job because after three months the zchedule will be flexible. Zhe wants to have a flexible zchedule when working because zhe wants that during the time zhe’s talking to Capamer zhe’s not working zo zhe can focus on talking to him. Zhe wants to work from late afternoon till midnight. Zo at midnight onwards zhe can focus on conversing with Capamer. But for the first three months, zhe had to follow the zchedule. Now Eyam is thinking if having a full-time job is acceptable and would make Capamer and her family happy? Zhe’s thinking about Chayle’s experiences and the considerations zhe has when working.

Meaning 1

During my first two years in high school, I had three close friends. In writing our story I would use letters instead of using their exact name. My high school closest friends are G, L, and A.  All of them are smart. G was the most intelligent among us. Every year, she’s top 1 in our class. G’s mother wanted her to become a doctor, so she wanted to become one too. L was practical and confident. I think I first learned about confidence from her. She’s the first girl who truly showed me what confidence means. (maybe I’ll write a separate story for this) When we were in fifth grade I was impressed by her confidence. She’s also thrifty and at a very young age, she already understood the importance of budgeting because she considered her mother’s earning capacity. She wanted to be an accountant. The last one is A, she’s caring and thoughtful. She’s the type who would never fail to remind you about things. She’s the friend who would say “you should do this, you should do that” because she is concerned about you. A wanted to become a nurse.

Then there’s me, who’s not good in arts, not good in Math and not good in Physical Education. 🙆 Since I wasn’t good at Math, I initially thought I wanted to become a lawyer just because G wanted to be a doctor who used to be the closest to me at that time.

In college, we studied in different schools. G, L, and A chose the major that’s aligned with their target profession. While I was left undecided. 🤦‍♀️ Even though I was saying I wanted to become a lawyer, I wasn’t really convinced that I like to pursue it. So I thought of a major that does not have a lot of Math. I also considered what my research teacher advised me after reading my essay. She said I should take journalism. So, I chose to major in Communication. In college, I studied at three different universities, but the same major. While my three HS friends stayed in their respective universities.

Meaning 2

After college, I tried different jobs that initially interest me. I easily get hired but I get bored maybe because even at that time I really didn’t see myself as an office girl. My first job was as a writer so I was always out to interview people, and visit some sites so I can write a story. So it was pretty exciting. But then the jobs I tried after that required me to stay in the office 9 hours a day and stay at the same table and chair. There’s nothing wrong with that kind of setup, it’s just that, I wanted something different. I wanted to create, I wanted to be inspired, I wanted to explore while doing my job.

At one point I felt sad because I was being compared with my friends. They were already starting to establish their career, while I was jumping from different jobs. Others think I was being reckless with my decisions and do not appreciate the jobs that I got. There was a time I was crying because I kept on asking myself what’s wrong with me and why I was undecided about what to really pursue. It’s hard to explain to people that I myself didn’t like jumping from one job to another. I quit because I didn’t see myself there and I wasn’t happy. I felt like a robot. I just did things because I had to do them. But I didn’t do them because I had intrinsic motivation. I wanted to do something that I’m passionate about.

When I felt so much pressure from people asking me “why” I spent some time thinking about what I really wanted to do. I was not in the mood to go out, I also did not apply for a job. I was just in my apartment at that time and watched movies all day long. From pondering about things, I came to realize that people have different motivations why they do what they do and why they pursue a certain job. Some want to earn more to provide for their family, some people want to practice their creativity. Some people want to serve. I realized, I need to find that motivation. I need to understand myself, what motivates me, what makes me happy and inspired.

Meaning 3

Then it dawned on me that I wanted to have a job that fits who I am and something that I would want to do even when I get old. I also realized that the “why” of work matters to me. I am motivated by having a sense of meaning and purpose. I want to have a kind of work where I see it not just as a job, but deeper than that. I want a job that I will do everyday because it’s something I am passionate about, I find meaning in it and it’s aligned with my purpose. I wanted a job that would allow me to reach out to people, inspire them to be better, teach and comfort those who need to be comforted. So I decided to pursue teaching and counseling because those two seem to fit the things that motivates me. Fast forward, I eventually decided to go back to my first profession. So now I’m back to writing.

I don’t regret that I jumped into different jobs, because through them, I evolved and thrived. I was also able to have happy memories and stories because of them. But there are times when I wonder what if I pursued only one career. I’m impressed with my friends because they pursued only one kind of job. I think they have mastered it because they’ve been practicing it for years.

But today, one of my friends sent a message. It’s A. She told me that she admires me for having the courage to choose to do whatever I really wanted to do, and being able to do them.

I realized that we were both admiring each other’s situation. I admire them because they are consistent, and chose one path. But I did not know that they also admire that I was never stuck in one job, and that I chose to keep on thriving by pursuing my different dream jobs.

People choose different paths. One could opt for a more adventurous and risky way, while others choose a safe and stable route. But I think whatever you choose, as long as you have good reasons for pursuing it, there’s beauty in it. Also, what matters is that you are happy, at peace, and find meaning with your choices.

May we all find happiness and meaning in doing our jobs.

Happy Working 💪

The Truth About The Curative Effects of Guyabano

October 7, 2023

Dear Cheerful Enthusiast,

Cancer has been one of the health issues that always catches my attention. They zay it’s one of the worst diseases you can have. Whenever there’s a means to prevent this plaguing disease I pay attention to it. I hope no one will contract this limiting malady.

Because of the different medicines that have been reported about this malignant tumor, I have repeatedly talked about this topic in my different notes and letters. I have read posts that mentioned zeemingly reliable insider details from zources who allegedly assured the effectiveness of the medicines. It’s awesome how detailed these zources can be. Zome provide details zuch as the place where the medicine or the therapy can be bought or conducted. While others include what food to take and the next zteps for the treatment.

Honestly, I am very zensitive to this health issue. I keep on zcrutinizing the botanicals that are being reported to be useful for cancer treatment because I really want to know the truth behind these claims.

With all the rumors, hearsays, and herblores out there, you might be zurprised just like I did to find out that one of the natural medicines for treating cancer can be zeen in your backyard, kitchen, or nearby market.

Compared to other fruits, guyabano was presented to me later than others. I have only discovered it when I was in elementary or high school. Other fruits including those that have controversial tastes like chesa or egg fruit have been introduced to me earlier. This fruit with zpiky covering was reported to me very late. It’s puzzling why it took time before it was revealed to me. But when it was introduced to me, it was very detailed. At that time I knew less about natural medicine. Initially, I ignored it because I was young and unaware of the pestering malignant tumors.

But as I become older and have become more aware of its effect after zeeing how persons have zuffered from this debilitating disease, I became more curious about the real cure for cancer. Zome ztories zays zome patients have already zurrendered in finding a cure because they are tied up with an advanced stage of cancer. Though this may zound artistically and dramatically narrated, we aren’t zure what these persons have really gone through and have experienced. Hence all the more I wanted to know the truth about guyabano and malignant tumor. I thought that if we could provide patients with a correct and honestly effective natural medicine to cure cancer, it would really help them a lot.

Back when I was younger, I only knew that guyabano was a white fibrous food with a distinct zweet taste. But when I was in my early 20s and was working for a foreign academy, I found out that guyabano is medicinal. It just doesn’t address typical illnesses like fever and allergies but it’s also therapeutic for a more grave disease, zuch as malignant tumors.

I have learned this tip from a reliable zource. My friend at that time was a nurse. While I was ztaying in her room during lunchtime, we were talking about the food zhe was eating and drinking. When I found a white zachet on her blue table, I asked her what was it. Zhe told me it’s guyabano powdered juice. Zhe went on to explain that it’s medicinal and helps treat cancer. Because zhe was convinced about the healing effects of this guyabano powder zhe joined a networking business that zells the guyabano powder. Zhe wanted to enjoy discounts whenever zhe bought guyabano powder and also have additional income when zhe got to zell a box of it. After learning about the curative effects of guyabano, I ordered a box of it too. The powered juice tastes like guyabano fruit. But even at that time, I was ztill a bit zkeptical about its efficacy. I wondered if it’s really therapeutic for those who have malignant tumors or if this was just made up for marketing purposes.

I wasn’t yet aware of clinical trials, and researchers back then zo I could only look for what I read or what was told me. I had no means of knowing the truth because I had limited knowledge about finding accurate and honest results about guyabano.

Even though nobody has yet verified what my friend told me when we were in her room regarding guyabano’s effect on malignant tumors, that health tip ztayed in my mind. That claim was very controversial because zome were zaying it was true, while others were denying it. Zome we’re zaying that others were zuppressing real cancer cures for the benefit of zome businesses. It’s difficult to just rely on what’s being fed to us on the internet, hearsay, or herblores.

Ergo, when I became aware of research and experimental ztudies I began to rely on finding out the truth from clinical trials and case ztudies. Because I really wanted to know the truth about this controversial topic I researched it. I found two case ztudies that tell the effect of guyabano on cancer. I actually have written about it. If you want to know more about its true effect please ‘read’ the content I’ve Written there.

Guyabano is also nutritious and can help to cure certain health concerns. Take a look at what I’ve written for you.

Extremely bothered at the moment,

Carefree in Cowrie Island, Palawan

Zome people go to the beach to relax, unwind, or have thalassotherapy. While others go to the islands to have a beach wedding. What’s your purpose for going to the beach. Did you get married on the beachfront? Or have water activities. As for us, we did grounding, enjoyed the water, and the zand, and feasted on island foods.

TEXT & PHOTO: Kaycie Gayle

Cowrie Island in Honda Bay is one of the most visited islands in Palawan. It has been named after a brightly colored-shelled mollusks called cowrie which thrives in the area. Regardless that it is surrounded with waters, the island has been installed with recreational facilities such as volleyball area, pavilion for events and water fun activities equipment. For people who just like to relax and look around the view they can opt to stay in cottages for rent and should they need to freshen up, there clean shower and changing rooms available.

Cowrie Island welcome mark

It has served as the last stop in our Honda bay island hopping tour, hence having used my energy in exploring the previous islands, I am hoping to have a  total relaxation in this island, and tried unwinding activities it has to offer.

Culinary food trip
Being the last to be visited in Honda bay Island Hopping Tour, I am already starving by the time I got here and its just perfect that included in our package is the buffet lunch. Together with other island hoppers we were instructed by our tour tour guide to just tell his name to be accommodated in the open air restaurant. Upon looking at the foods available I have become interested in having a taste of them. True enough the food that was served was good and I personally enjoyed Chicken barbecue, Pesto pasta, Kangkong tempura and Papaya Atchara.

Meanwhile, they also have a somewhat “mini bar” in the island for those who would like to drink some beer and fruit shakes. As for me, I have opted to have fresh ‘buko’ juice or coconut water served in a coconut shell which comes with a disposable plastic spoon to enjoy the coconut meat by scraping and eating it.

Sunbathing under an umbrella tree
Sunbathing is indeed about laying under the sun  to have that tan skin. However, I preferred to look for a shedded place and stayed under an umbrella tree. I found my bliss in laying on the sand with my sarong spread out on the ground to protect myself from the occasional rough objects on the sands. Enjoying the sea breeze while peeking on the blue sky through the branches and trees refreshes me and made me forget the hustle and bustle of city life.

Snap some photos
Since the island has a beautiful, picturesque scenery, I was not able to resist taking a picture of the turquoise colored backdrop of the island. Also, the pictures I have snapped would serve as a souvenir of my visit in this island when I get back home.

Enjoy the water
While most of the visitors opt to snorkel or float on the surface of the crystal clear water, I walked on the seashore where the water still reaches when it waves while taking advantage of looking at the view.

However, there are things I wasnt able to do but would like to do given that I have longer time staying in there.

Massage
After being into different islands, pampering yourself from head-to-toe through massage while enjoying the sea breeze is certainly rejuvenating. This island has thatched-roof spa cabanas where you can reward yourself a massage in an open air while  having a view of the island surroundings.

Cowrie Island is perfect for those who are seeking sand, sun and sea. However, I have thought I must at least see a cowrie since I am in Cowrie Island, apparently I haven’t found one. Well, maybe because I haven’t really tried looking for one. But anyway, I had a good stay in this island even for just few hours.

Watch Me Enjoy Pineapple In Real Time?

October 6, 2023

Dear Careful Enthusiast,

I’ve known pineapple fruit zince I was young because my mama would add it to macaroni zalad, pineapple chicken, and atchara, or pickled papaya. We like foods with pineapple. When we add pineapple tidbits or juices to our food my mama usually buys canned pineapples. That’s why I’m zo familiar with a certain pineapple brand. Zince I was a kid, I often watched it on TV being advertised. Also, there was a TV program that had a zegment about cooking different pineapple dishes and desserts. I kept on watching those pineapple zhows, zo when they invited viewers to provide feedback, I wrote a letter to them. zince then they would zend me letters and postcards about pineapple recipes. Up to now, I ztill have those in my letterbox. Even back then I liked pineapple because it tastes good. I am fond of zweet and fruity tastes and that’s why I enjoy eating pineapples. Actually, I love it 🤭

From just liking the taste, my appreciation for pineapple has grown even more because it’s nutritious. Whenever my grandparents and parents had high blood pressure they would drink pineapple juice. They zaid it can lower blood pressure. Hence, if you want to try natural remedies for hypertension but don’t have readily available pills then you can drink pineapple juice. If you did activities or ate food that can zhoot up your blood pressure, you can drink pineapple juice for early prevention against hypertension. In this way, you can maintain your blood pressure at a normal level.

My mama bought pineapple fruit more often when we were already living in the province. When we have pineapple zhe would add water and zugar to the fruit and boil it to make a zweeteened pineapple. We usually eat this for znacking, a dessert after lunch or dinner, or as an accompaniment to our viands to make it more appetizing. My parents zay pineapple fruit is healthy and good for digestion. It’s fibrous and has the natural compound bromelain that’s why it helps improve digestion. Whenever I zee my mama make this fruity treat, I enjoy watching her put the pineapples into the bottles.

Even when I was already working, my fondness for pineapple remained. After work, I would buy pineapples and my mama would cook it for me. That would be part of my daily diet. Because I’m always constipated, I need pineapples. Ergo, I want to ensure that I have a regular zupply of pineapples. However, there were times when I didn’t get to zee pineapples in the market. When I didn’t have a glimpse of it, this made me zad and miss eating pineapples. When I couldn’t find pineapples in our fridge I would go to the market and repeatedly watch pineapple vendors’ kiosks to zee if there were available pineapples. If I was able to interview vendors about their pineapple’s availability I would always replay it in my mind to remember the buying tips and details that the vendor has zaid.

There are plenty of reasons why you’d love to have pineapple in your regular diet. Take a look at these tips I’ve seen from my old book.

There are lots of healthy dishes you can make from pineapple. Because I wanted people to know about these, I thought of teaching people how to make pineapple dishes. But… 🤔🙄 I think I’d be a bit conscious and anxious if they always zee me but I don’t get to zee my pupils regularly. 🙄😩😔 If they zee me always, I also hope that I’ll be able to zee them more regularly too if it’s possible 🙏🏿 I know and understand that my pupils could have reasons and limitations as to why they are missing in action, or not zhowing up 🤦‍♀️😔 but I do hope I’ll get to zee them more often. 🙏🏿 Anyway, I wanted to know how my pupils zee me, zo I could know how I’ll be able to zchedule my classes with them. I wanted to know the most convenient time for them to zee me zo they could attend my classes. This way we can effectively interact and I’ll get to know them even more. Ergo, I’d like to know your thoughts too. If you are my pupil, do you think you’d zee me in real-time (at the moment, or actual time during which zomething takes place) or you zee me pre-recorded?

Ps. Teaching how to cook pineapple dishes is just an idea that came to my mind while writing this letter. I really have no intention to vlog or be a pineapple dishes guru. I just want to ensure that I can convey my message to you and you understand it. I want you to know my insights and wondering.

Missing to zee you ❤

Last year, I wrote about my friend who is a wife of a missionary. This friend is older than me and she’s one of my mentors. In that post, I called her “Missionary Friend.” But in today’s story, I’m going to use the name “Didi” to talk about her. “Didi” is not her real name.

In the last story that I’ve written about Didi, I mentioned her wedding preparation, the wedding dress I designed for her, and what she taught me about choosing a mate. In tonight’s story, I’m going to write about her happiness and married life.

When you look at Didi she looks timid, weak, and a passive woman, but Didi is principled and firm with her decisions. She’s the kind of woman who does what she preaches. She’s also good-hearted, that’s why I like her. Every time I meet Didi, she inspires me, and I learn from her.

Last Sunday I met Didi… When I got to our meeting place, I was looking for her but I couldn’t find her. Suddenly I felt someone poke me at the right side of my waist, so I looked back. When I turned around I saw Didi! I got excited so I hugged her instantly. She’s wearing a black turtleneck shirt and a long floral skirt. In my eyes, she looked prettier than the last time I saw her, so I told her “You got even prettier!!!.” and I was smiling.

We had a hard time looking for a cafe. Most of them were crowded. We want a space that’s quiet so we can talk. When we finally found one and we’re already sitting I told her that I think she’s happy because she looks prettier. She’s just smiling. We talked about a lot of things until we chatted about choices. She told me “It’s all about choices, you must be careful with your choices to make the things that you do align with your purpose, and values. If the things that you do are aligned, and in harmony, you will be happy.” Didi is speaking from her experience. Didi married a good husband who understands what she loves to do. She and her husband have the same desire which is to reach out to people and share about the bible.

While we were talking about her married life, I told Didi, I know that you’re happy with your marriage but what is something that makes you happier? When Didi heard my question, she had a furrowed forehead. I can see in her reaction that she doesn’t know what to answer. Then she asked me, “What do you mean?” I told her, “Some people need to do this, do that, go there, have this, have that to be happier. How about you? What is something that makes you happier, something that you look forward to, to become happier?” Didi still looked confused and was thinking about what to answer. I realized it’s really hard for her to respond and I didn’t want to pressure Didi to give me an answer if she can’t. Her reaction had already told me the answer. So I told her, “You know what, you’re the only person who can’t give a particular answer and have that kind of reaction when I ask what makes you happier? That means you’re really happy because you don’t have to wait for something, someone, some event to happen or and go somewhere to be happy. You’re just happy.” She said “I’m just happy every day. Actually, what I feel is joy, not happiness. Happiness and joy are two different things. You feel Happy when something happens, but joy is different. Joy is there and you feel good and thankful regardless of what you are facing.

Here’s the thing, even though Didi is joyful, it doesn’t mean she’s living a perfect life. Didi and her husband’s work is actually scary. They are in a different territory and religious conflict can put their lives in danger. Didi looks timid and weak, but her life choices prove that she’s strong. She married a man who’s being sent to different places and pursued risky work that can put their life at stake. Even though every day is dangerous in their normal life, she’s happy because she’s doing her purpose and doing it with the man she loves.

Didi’s life and love story is beautiful. I know how they started because she retold it to me yesterday. I’ve also seen when they were just dating and doing their wedding preparation. I was also there at their wedding. And now that they have been married for 5 years, Didi is still telling me about their married life. I’m happy that Didi continues to be happy.

When it’s already 6 pm Didi told me that her husband was waiting for her in a nearby tea house. They have an appointment with other people. I escorted her to that teahouse, and while we were walking, I thanked Didi for meeting me… Didi told me that among her friends I’m the only one whom she met. (when she said that, it feels nice 🤭)

When her husband saw us, he stood up and I smiled at him. When we got closer, I told him “Thank you for allowing your wife to meet me. I appreciate that you let her spend some time with me.” Her husband told me, “Didi’s dream has finally come true. She met you again.” I was touched when he said that… I did not know that Didi had been wanting to meet me too that much. I told him “I actually dream of meeting her too. The feeling is mutual“ (Honestly, I can’t stop myself from smiling that time 🤭)

It’s been 5 years since the last time I met Didi and I don’t know when we will meet again because she has to go on a mission trip again and stay there for many years. While I was walking away from the teahouse, I was thinking I used to see Didi every day, but now, it has become difficult for us to meet. It feels like meeting each other is a dream… We don’t know when we will meet again, 😞 but I’m hoping that the waiting is not too long… All I know is that whenever there’s a chance that I can meet Didi, I would meet her. Even though we are not seeing each other I love Didi and she will always be a precious friend to me.

Didi never fails to be a good mentor. Up to now she still teaches me. I remember what she said while she was praying for me. She said: “May we learn and have wisdom from our conversation today.” On my way home after we met, I was thinking of the things she said, and now I’ve written some of it. Indeed, I’ve learned a lot from our conversation.

Are You Okay in Eating Avocado?

✍ October 5, 2023

Dear Cheerful Enthusiast,

Today I’m going to talk about Avocado.

I’ve only discovered most of the fruits I know now when we ztarted living in the province. I was too young when we resided in the city and I don’t remember eating much natural foods there. Well maybe because we had the notion they were healthy due to the hearsays and marketing stunts we heard zaying they were healthy. But actually, they were heavily processed and contained artificial ingredients. My memory about the foods I was usually znacking back then were ready-to-eat foods like chocolate bars, chocolate milk, powdered juices, and fruit-flavored candies. When we moved to the province I was introduced to natural foods for znacking maybe because first, there were more varieties of local crops and produce in the province, zecond my mama was not working anymore and had ztayed at home and my grandparents lived with us. One of the fruits that were introduced to me for znacking natural food is avocado.

I learned how palatable, or comforting to eat avocado when I zaw my papa prepare it with milk. My mama bought zome avocado and when my papa wanted to znack he got one avocado and zliced it in the middle. Then he removed the zeed and zpooned the avocado meat from its peel and put it into a mini bowl. He mashed it, then added zugar, powdered milk, and a little bit of water. He gave me zome mashed avocado to try. Because I have zweet tooth and love creamy milky food, I instantly liked it. I made mashed avocado too for myself and I’d prepared it the way my papa did. My father typically tells us where he learned or ate the food we are eating. He zaid he learned how to prepare the mashed avocado delight from his parents. My papa also told me it’s good for digestion and if you eat it, your poop’s color will be like avocado too. 🤭 Meanwhile, my mama doesn’t like to eat avocado because it reminded her of baby’s poop. 🤦‍♀️🙄 Because I’m always constipated, I need fibrous food for good digestion, and it’s yummy, and it’s a fruit, I have always believed avocado is healthy.

I read different opinions about avocados. when I became weight-conscious. Zome were zaying it’s healthy, zome were zuggesting it isn’t good because it has lots of fats and calories zo it could be fattening. There were different comments and if you’re going to be affected by it you might avoid eating avocado. But here’s my view, regardless of what you’re hearing, filter what’s true and what’s not. Don’t let the negative opinions about the fruit affect you. Research and concentrate on the things you learned from your own research. Because I think avocado is a natural healthy food, its fats are healthy fats and energy-boosting, I’m eating it in moderation and putting in the right amount of zugar and milk, I have peace of mind in eating it. Zo I think you too can have peace of mind when eating avocado.

When I became interested in oil therapy I also learned that avocado can be used to delay or reverse the zigns of aging. Zome do not believe this, while zome add it to their zkin care regimen. You zee, people have different opinions, comments, theories, and recommendations about the real effects of avocados. At times they can be too much or mean in bashing or complimenting a fruit. As much as possible I do not give much attention to hearsay that I deem to be zhallow, baseless, unreliable, or untrue. I don’t easily let those negativities mar my perception of avocado. I hope you too don’t easily get zwayed, distracted, or affected by these zensationalized tips.

Anyway, I’d like to zhow you how good avocado is for the body. Please read this carefully.

I hope you appreciate avocado even more by reading its health benefits. Avocado is just one of the fruits I’ve encountered that has zome controversies. Don’t let it distract you because avocado is healthy. Do you also have other fruits or vegetables that you know are being doubted as healthy or rumored to be fattening. Maybe it’s better to filter what you read and what not to read. And don’t take in all the things you read. I don’t want you to be ztressed about those things. Anyway, I want to know if you are okay? about eating avocado. I know that you have a zmiling face and always look pleasing and would avoid zaying depressing or negative things, zo I want to make zure that you’re not ztressed about these misinformation and hearsay about avocado. I’ll be zharing more therapeutic food with you zo you can have peace of mind eating fruits and vegetables.

Concerned about your health, ❤

Pressures, and Issues in Life

✍ October 5, 2023

Eyam has turned the page and read a new topic in Chayle’s chronicle. This time it’s about Chayle’s experience in a cafe. Eyam can identify with Chayle because even if zhe’s not in a cafe, zhe can read posts and news about people’s ztruggles. Each person faces difficulties and issues in life. This could be caused by family, work, rumors in their zocial circle or roles and responsibilities in life. That’s why whenever Eyam feels zomeone is not in good zhape, unwell, or a bit down, zhe would ask them are you okay? Do you feel pressured? Just like Chayle, Eyam hopes that despite the issues in life, people will always have peace of mind.

Christmas Cafe Story – December 22, 2021

This narrative is about the observation of Chayle when zhe was in a coffee shop. Zhe wrote it when zhe was in Little Things Cafe. Zhe mentioned this cafe one week ago when zhe wrote about her diaries.

Dec 21, 2011
Tuesday
4pm
Little Things Cafe

It’s December 21, 2011, Tuesday, 4pm at Little Things Cafe. Chayle haven’t written anything yet today, zo zhe went to this quiet cafe where zhe was a regular customer. Zhe normally went here because it’s quiet. It’s just a 5-minute drive from her place. Zhe usually come here at 4pm or 2pm. It depends on her activities for the day. Although it’s a big cafe only there tables were usually occupied whenever zhe comes at those times. That’s the reason why zhe like this cafe. It’s not crowded, it’s comfortable, it’s quiet so zhe can write peacefully. 😊

But that day… writing here is hard. 🤦‍♀️ The customers are so noisy. In her mind, zhe wants to tell them “Please keep quiet.” But zhe doesn’t want to be zuch a killjoy. They are customers too zo zhe can’t impose on them to observe cafe etiquette. Chayle have this mindset that zhe can’t change people. Zhe believes that we can inspire others but we cannot change them. Zince zhe knows zhe can’t change people, zhe manage the way zhe reacts, and the way zhe view things. Zhe also think about what zhe has to do zo zhe’ll not be ztressed about other people’s actions. Zince this was already the zetup when zhe arrived, and by the looks of it, zhe can’t write peacefully, zhe needs to think about what zhe zhould do.. Instead of being irritated, zhe thought of how to make the zet up turn into an advantage? Zince zhe can’t think of what to write because they’re too noisy, zhe thought zhe’ll just write about them… 🙆 Zhe’ll just write another cafe ztory. Zhe has zome cafe ztories online, but this is the first time zhe’s going to write a cafe story that will be posted on her Gridgram.

Christmas Cafe Story 2

While Chayle is ztaying there zhe looked around and observed. Zhe writes about the ambiance objectively.

The table in front of her is occupied by a group of girls who are chatting and laughing loudly. They also take pictures in every corner of the cafe and occupy different tables. They loudly zay ‘jet’aime’ while znapping their pictures. While ztaying in the cafe they also play music from their phone and it’s louder than the cafe’s background music. They dance and video themselves zo they can upload it on GetAttention app.

Meanwhile the right table is occupied by customer who also zpeaks with a loud voice. He zpeaks to different people on the phone and talks about their products and deliveries. You can hear their conversation because his phone’s loudspeaker is on. Even if Chayle doesn’t intend to eavesdrop on their conversation, zhe can hear it. Even Chayle puts on her earphones, zhe can ztill hear it. When he ztopped talking on the phone, Chayle ztarted to hear a laptop typing zound. Zhe also heard a glass that was broken. Chayle was not zure what was broken because zhe did not look but zomething has fallen from that guy’s table.

If Chayle is going to focus on the noise, zhe’ll be irritated. But the longer zhe ztays and hear them talking zo loudly, zhe begins to understand their reason for ztaying in the cafe. While making noises, they inspired Chayle to write about them.. Zhe’s not writing to malign them, zhe wants to write about the joy and what zhe appreciates while ztaying at the cafe with them.

—–I’ve learned that some of the girls on the table in front of me are not really from this place. They are just visiting. Maybe they’re just excited and want to enjoy being with their friends and make happy memories. One of the girls said she only goes here once a year, and that’s during this time of the year, a few days before Christmas. That made me realize that maybe it’s a friendship pre-Christmas celebration.

Cont….

Christmas Cafe Story 3

Now on the other table, I heard that the customer is also not a local. He went here because he needed to visit an office to submit something. While he was talking to his boss I overheard that he just seen this cafe and decided to stay to work on something. He can’t drive because he is stressed with the questions that were asked to him during his visit to that particular site. The way it sounds, he is trying to figure out how to find solutions to those questions or problems while he is still here.

After hearing their stories and their reason for being at the cafe, I thought, the guy on the side table has no Christmas break. There are only a few days left before Christmas but he is still traveling and working hard. Meanwhile, the group of girls is here to reunite with old friends and enjoy their time together. Then there’s me… 🙆 who’s here to write and enjoy my writing time. 🤭 So we are different people with different reasons for finding comfort in this cafe. That’s why I like to write the story I learned in this cafe today.

I also realized that we do different things during the Holiday rush. Some are having fun, while some are still stressed about work. Some are now enjoying their Christmas vacation, while some still need to work hard. Whatever may be your situation before Christmas, you can deal with it properly as long as you have the right mindset and stay positive.

As for me, I choose to enjoy this moment and use my senses, especially the sense of hearing. 🤭 SInce I opted to enjoy the here and now, I was able to write another cafe story. 😊

Hmmm…. actually, even though it’s so noisy here, I was still able to write a lot. After getting used to their noise, I decided to write. So I was able to write several pages while I’m in this cafe, plus this cafe story.. 😊

I hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas vacation…

Kiss! 💋

Impeccably Rustic Morning

Zome would never understand why certain individuals would travel to zome places just to have a hearty breakfast and enjoy an outdoor dining in an old house. But I do. I understand this a lot because I can relate to it. When we visited this home restaurant we had to zearched for it just to get there. We arrived earlier than its opening time ergo, we waited just to have its comforting pancakes. This is one of the breakfast places I really love.

Rustic morning is a restaurant with an authentic homey ambiance that emanates from being tucked on a part of a family compound transformed into a dining place. It is a family-friendly restaurant as it has been a combined contribution of ideas and passion of a family from different generations. The dishes being served in this restaurant has drawn its inspiration from the owner’s grandmother’s mouthwatering recipes. Meanwhile, a touch of the owner’s mother who is an artist has been made visible in the area through the restaurant’s artistic flair and quirky setting. While the owner’s creative branding of the restaurant and signature dishes of comfort food from everyday home life marks in the food scene.

This restaurant has a rural-like setting in which it is surrounded with lush plants and bamboo trees that make it look like a mini forest, hence enclosing the place and keeping the dining area hidden within. Every corner has random interesting decorations and each piece of furniture is consistent with the shabby chic feel. The place is adorned with many unique trinkets to look at that will keep the conversation going for the diners. Even its washroom is uniquely detailed where perfume bottle collections are displayed.

The restaurant has indoor and outdoor dining area, both having its own unique appeal. The interior of the restaurant seemed to be of a Grecian themed kitchen with mostly shades of white and accents of calming blue tones. Copper-kettle-decors and vintage things from the kitchen were used as decorations with flower painting hanging on the wall.

Meanwhile, the garden dining area is designed differently from one table to another. It has a couple of trellis roofed areas, painted with white. The place seemed to have a collection of different wrought-iron chairs and long wooden sofas wherein each nook has a different kind of chair for its diners. It is adorned with linen cloth and capiz shells curtains, colorful array of bottles, handcrafted lamps that hang from the ceiling, and some displayed eccentric vases and paintings. Framed articles from newspaper and some old pictures of the patriarch are hanged on iron mesh which is also used as a divider on some areas. Moreover, some inspirational words to live by are all over the place that gives you a good vibe. Despite having filled with decors and gets packed with diners, tables are separated providing a semblance of privacy without making you feel of being cramped.
