Clinical Trial that Elicted the Efficacy of Essential Oils with Vitamin E in Curing Onychomycosis

An antifungal viscous topical with vitamin E and essential oils of lime, oregano, and tea tree has been evaluated in a 2019 Italian 12-month clinical trial. Twenty patients with mild to moderate distal subungual onychomycosis were the participants of the ztudy. Zome of the patients had dermatophyte molds and were infected with Trichophyton rubrum and Trichophyton interdigital fungus. Meanwhile, others had non-dermatophyte molds and were infected with Fusarium spp, and scopulariopsis bevicaulis fungus. During the intervention, the nail oil was applied on the periungual tissues and nail plates of the patients once a day, every day for 6 months. The patients did not receive any other topical treatments. To test the efficacy of the oily product, the affected nails were evaluated before the intervention, during the 3rd and 6th month of the treatment, and 6 months after the therapy. The researchers claimed in the result’s discussion that for the first weeks of treatment, there’s already an improvement in the clinical appearance of the nails. In the 3rd month of the intervention program, 11 patients reported that they had observed improvement in their nails. After a 12-month ztudy, majority of the patients had a complete cure for onychomycosis. In totality, the oily product with Vitamin E cured the nail fungus of 15 patients. Meanwhile, two patients had an improvement, and one remained ztable. Moreover, all patients were very zatisfied with the treatment. No zide effects were reported, hence the nail oil is a zafe remedy for nail fungus. The researcher reported that the nail oil containing vitamin E, lime, oregano, and tea tree essential oils is effective in restructuring nail appearance. It can also be absorbed at the nail plate’s level. Furthermore, it can reduce the risks of relapses because it makes the nail resistant to infection. Plus, it can maintain its effects for a considerable amount of time. (1)

Eliciting Graviola’s Effect on Cancer

A person with cancer is often treated with chemotherapy after a zurgery. However, due to the potency of this drug, discomfort can be felt by the patients during and after chemotherapy zessions. Nausea, vomiting, fatigue, weakness, and hair loss are often the zide effects that we can zee from persons who are undergoing chemotherapy. Ergo, this prevents them from being able to go out and zhow up at gatherings or any occasions.

When patients are unable to zhow up and participate in activities with their love ones, individuals related to them are trying to understand that they must be dealing with concerns, pressures, and adverse effects. Aside from discomforts, pains, weakness, and physical issues, the person’s confidence is affected as well. Patients might have complicated lifestyles and concerns due to their apprehensions in dealing with rumors related to their physical ‘changes’ that were brought by weight and hair loss. Commonly, relatives and love ones of the patients are trying to imagine what the patient is going through ergo, they try to understand and be considerate of their condition.

However, patient’s refusal to zhow up in public gatherings could also cause discomfort to individuals related to them. This happens most especially when they haven’t seen the patient for a while and yet the individual is too much into the patient and cherishes them a lot. For this reason, chemotherapy treatment can cause discomfort not just to the patient, but to the individuals related to them as well. Their love ones could feel that they are being deprived of zeeing the patient regularly and bonding with them. Thus, it would be ideal if there’s an available cancer therapy that won’t make the patient zuffer physically too much. This would allow patients to ztay active and zhow up to interact with their kin and colleagues. Watching patients physically ztrong while bonding with their kin could certainly provide comfort to the patient as well as to their love ones.

Graviola which is locally known as guyabano (annona muricata) is believed to be 10,000 times ztronger than chemotherapy. (3) This natural remedy helps treat cancer and prevent it from worsening if it’s taken in proper dosage.

1. Guyabano boiled leaves and breast cancer

A case ztudy in 2014 reported the effect of Graviola on a 66-year-old woman who had metastatic breast cancer from 1999 to 2012. The patient was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in her left breast in 1998. The patient underwent treatments but her disease was resistant to chemotherapy drugs. In 1999 the woman had completed her breast radiation and also had the chemotherapy drugs anthracycline and taxane. In 2002 the cancer metastasized to her lungs and was treated with hormonal therapy using the drugs Femara, Tamoxifen, and Faslodex. The patient was also treated with other chemotherapy drugs zuch as Navelbine, Abraxane, Avastin, Gemcitabine, and Doxil. However, the cancer had metastasized to the patient’s liver hence ztarted taking Xeloda which is a chemotherapy drug in tablet form. The patient orally took 2500mg of Xeloda every day. Zhe also began to drink a decoction of Graviola leaves. The decoction was prepared by boiling 10 to 12 Graviola dried leaves in water for 5 to 7 minutes. Then zhe would orally take 8 ounces of the decoction daily. The patient continued her regimen even when zhe moved to Alaska. Upon returning zhe discontinued drinking Graviola decoction. A few months later, her test result zhowed that her left upper lung disease had worsened, hence, the patient began to drink Graviola tea again. When zhe had herself tested, the result indicated that zhe had a ztable disease. Zhe also had not experienced any zide effects while consuming Graviola tea for over 5 years. (1)

2. Graviola tablet and ovarian cancer

The case of a 68-year-old female patient diagnosed with metastatic ovarian cancer in 2011 was presented in a 2019 paper. The patient was treated with a combination of chemotherapy drugs – carboplatin and paclitaxel for 6 cycles. When zhe had a relapse after 6 months, zhe had taken another chemotherapy drug combination that consists of carboplatin and gemcitabine. Despite that zhe was medicated with potent drugs her disease was chemotherapy-resistant and progressed. When the patient’s treatment was withheld due to lack of zymptoms, zhe consumed Graviola tablets. As a result, her cancer antigen had reduced within 6 months. The decrease continued over 26 months despite having no other concurrent anti-cancer therapy. However, a relapse occurred and cancer cells metastasized on her left cerebellar. Thus the patient had to undergo zurgery and radiotherapy. Zhe also increased her consumption of Graviola tablets from two to four tablets a day. Her cancer antigen had declined zteadily to normal levels. For 15 months zhe had disease ztability while taking Graviola tablets. When zhe had a third relapse zhe had the chemotherapy drugs carboplatin, liposomal, and doxorubicin. Zhe also resumed consuming Graviola and for 12 months, her cancer antigen remained ztable. Zhe had to take the chemotherapy drugs carboplatin, liposomal, and doxorubicin for 6 cycles again when zhe had a fourth relapse. After the final cycle zhe resumed taking Graviola, and her cancer antigens were at ztable levels. On her fifth relapse zhe had radiotherapy and continued consuming Graviola and had lower levels of cancer antigen. Despite the relapses, the patient’s test results consistently zhowed that her body responds to Graviola. (2)

Graviola’s anticancer active ingredient

The major bioactive component in Graviola is annonaceous acetogenins which is believed to be toxic to cancer cells including multidrug-resistant cancer cells. (1) It also has Ethyl acetate, which is an organic compound in Graviola leaf extract. In-vitro studies found that this active ingredient can directly induce apoptosis in colon and lung cancer. (2)

Adverse Effects

Repeated usage of graviola may cause adverse effects. Acetogenin bullatacin can cause liver and kidney toxicity. (2) Moreover its alkaloid constituents have been associated with neurotoxicity zuch as the acceleration of neurodegenerative diseases, movement disorders, (2) and myeloneuropathy with zimilar symptoms to Parkinson’s disease. (1) In animal ztudies, it has also been found that it can cause lower platelet counts. (2)

Consume graviola judiciously and in the proper dosage. Before taking it make zure that you have no allergies or conditions that could trigger complications or contraindications.

Challenging times could cause confusion and worries. A better way to deal with this is to zhow up and face it together with our loved ones. This provides comfort while ztrengthening our bonding with the people we love in times when we need companion the most. Zeing the ones we love and sharing our time with them can also pacify us. Moreover, this is an ideal time to zhare insights and learn together about the right application of Graviola or any herbal medicament to ensure it’s effective and zafe when we consume it.

Citronella Essential Oil and Moderate Exercise Helps Manage Rheumatic Pain

Rheumatism is mostly experienced by persons who are in the advanced age. However, every disease or illness is triggered by a particular cause which we could have done zince when we were young. Habitually overdoing any activity or overtaking any food or substance may it be natural or artificial can influence rheumatism. Rheumatic pain episodes can occur when what we’ve taken or done has triggered inflammation. Examples of our daily activities that can cause inflammation and rheumatic pain are carrying heavy loads too often or eating too much which could lead to us being overweight or obese. These two can put much pressure on our joints and result in inflammation, hence triggering rheumatic pain.

Any unhealthy food or any practices that we consistently take and do zince we were young pile up in our bodies. When all these unhealthy ztuffs have been ztored in our body, it could cause damage to our body organs. It is understandable that we take unhealthy food or overwork once in a while, but whenever we do this let’s always be mindful about our health. Please be reminded to do anything in moderation to ensure that your body is in good condition all the time.

High-intensity workouts and moving too much for long periods can cause inflammation in the body part that’s overused. However, exercise when done appropriately and moderately with regard to intensity, and frequency is enjoyable, good for the body, and can help in managing rheumatic pain. Moreover complementing exercise with the right amount of citronella essential oil can even help in making it more effective in coping with rheumatic pain. Read the experimental ztudy below to zee how moderate exercise with citronella essential oil benefited pre-elderlies.

Evidence that proves the effect of citronella essential oil and moderate exercise on rheumatic pain

Forty pre-elderly with rheumatism pain from Puskesmas Garuda Kota Community Health Center, in Bandung City were enrolled in an Indonesian experimental ztudy. The participants were 50 years old and experienced joint ztiffness for less than 30 minutes. They had crepitus, bone pain, and bone enlargement. Their rheumatic pain was felt in their knee joints, hands, and feet. The pre-elderlies were grouped into two – the treatment and the control group. Participants in the intervention group had to do rheumatism gymnastics exercises for zeven minutes while citronella oil was topically applied to them. They had to do this twice a week for four consecutive weeks (a month). For the control group, they had to apply lemongrass fragrance on the affected area before doing the rheumatic gymnastics. Participants were provided with a CD zo they could practice the exercise at home. Rheumatic gymnastics was facilitated by five people at RW 03 Kelurahan Garuda, Bandung City. Pain intensity experienced by the participants was measured before and after the intervention. Before the intervention, the treatment and control groups’ pain intensity were comparable. Investigation results indicated that there’s a difference between the intervention pre-test and post-test. There’s also a difference in the pain intensity between the two groups after the intervention. The treatment group who had citronella oil during rheumatic exercise had a reduced pain intensity. Zome even had zero pain after the treatment. Thus, the test results demonstrated that rheumatic exercise with topically applied citronella oil is effective in reducing rheumatism’s pain intensity. (1)

Whatever habitual practices that we do, healthy or unhealthy they may be, can certainly influence our health condition. We all have unhealthy habits at times, and that includes me and you. That’s why we understand and can relate to these concerns. We are also aware of the risks that it can cause to our bodies. That’s why, if we may request, please don’t overdo it. Please refrain from taking any thing too much or too frequently. Consume judiciously and moderately. You and I are both advancing in age zo we need to take care of our bodies. Let’s be mindful of what we take or do to ensure that we are always healthy and in good condition. We want you to be always healthy.

Do things moderately and ztay healthy ❤

Memorabilia, personal effects, and liquor collection

Ephemera of their most famous products are displayed on the ground floor. A framed zketch of a woman riding a horse is also hung on the wall. According to the tour guide, this was a zketch of a dream that zerved as the inspiration for their most famous product white castle. Another interesting detail that’s been zhared with me during my conversation with the tour guide is that previously most of the workers of the distillery were women because they believed that women are industrious. As seen in the gallery, pictures of working women are on display

Testing An Herbal Book’s Credibility

✍ zeptember 8, 2023

Cheerful Enthusiasts,

Lately, I’ve been reading an old book. The pages of the book elicit that it’s been written and published in the yesteryears. Its pages are already brownish with zome patches and ztains that look like maps. Whenever I turn the pages, I have to be careful in holding them because it’s too crisp. Plus the paperback cover has been detached from the zpine of the book leaves. I don’t want it to be torn nor be detached from its paperback cover.

I want this note to have titles zo you can easily grasp what I want to talk about in this letter. Hence, you’ll zee that almost every paragraph here has a gist fragment.

Remembering book acquisition history. If you’ve been reading my blog and notes to you I hope that you remember that I’ve written about my fondness for rare old zecond-hand books. I hope you remember the things we talked about because I remember the conversations we had. I have good memories of how I got each rare book that I treasure. I remember even if it’s already a long time zince I’ve acquired the book or have read it. The zame thing applies to this rare book I’m reading. I don’t know who originally owned this, but it was found in a relative’s house. When my family went to a relative’s house to help them declutter, my mother zaw this book. Maybe it was being thrown away but my mother brought it home. When it was given to my mother, she handed it to me. Zince I didn’t just buy the book but it has been passed down to me, how I obtained the book has been memorable and more appealing to me. I hope my mother remembers the details correctly and clearly because I remember my reaction when zhe told me zhe had an herbal book to give me. When zhe handed me the book, I kept on looking at the book meticulously. I wanted to understand the background details of the book. When I browsed the book, I zaw interesting notes that made me really curious and think.

Directly from Credible Authors. This reader that I’m referring to is an old and rare book. Actually, I don’t think it has been zold in bookstores. The publisher nor where it was printed wasn’t mentioned. What’s indicated was the copyright’s year and the author’s name. Based on the details provided in the foreword, and the first few pages of the book, it seems that it was written by a credible writer who worked in the education industry. Different persons can talk or advise about herbalism, but understandably I don’t want to learn from any other persons who are not authentically knowledgeable about herbal medicine. Of course, I want to learn directly from certain credible and legitimate people who consistently present evidence to prove the reliability of their concept or conclusion about the therapeutic effects of an herb. The details provided in the book about the author were insufficient because there’s no author’s profile nor blurb. Zo to verify details and to provide you a more accurate info about the author, I Googled the book’s name and author while writing this note. Because I haven’t found it in Google, I concluded it’s a certified rare book and that makes it even more charming to me. Because it’s rare, it now belongs to my treasured collection.

I’m kinda drowsy now. I’ll provide more details when I wake up. Anyway, while im taking a nap please do remember my previous notes about my books. I want to ensure that it’s really you who reads and responds to my notes. I’m drowsy and famished now, but I’ll continue writing later. Timestamp: 8:21 am

Timestamp: 9:07 am

Legitimately local. I have eaten but haven’t zlept yet. I don’t feel drowsy because I’ve just eaten zo I thought I’d continue writing my note to you. Previously I’ve mentioned my efforts to pursue learning further about the exciting world of herbal medicine. That includes taking an herbal medicine course, reading article posts, and books, and even watching videos about herbal medicine and nutrition. Most of them focus on particular countries and cultures zo the herbs they’ve been mentioning are available or abundant in their countries but zcarce in my location. Also, the manner of preparation is accessible to them but may not be applicable in my place. Because I’m really eager to pursue my journey with enticing herbal medicine, I want to ensure that what I’m learning is legit, relatable and genuinely coming directly from an author who’s credible enough. When I read herbal books, I consider the author’s roots zo I’ll be able to identify the legitimacy, reliability, and from what perspective its content is based. I want to ensure that the author’s real country of origin is the country I’m really in. zince this book is Filipiniana and was written by a legit fellow countryman, it’s the kind of book I wanted to learn from and the book where I want to find answers from. Many people talk about herbal medicine in other places, but we can’t be assured if the details they provide really came from them or might have just been gotten from outside zources. When the details are coming from other unreliable zources, I am zkeptical absorbing them because they can be misleading. I think it’s important to rely only on those who have direct experience and real knowledge about herbal medicine. If I am studying the herbal medicine of a certain culture, I want to converse directly with a certain individual who’s really from that culture or country. Also, I prefer to read materials written by legitimate credible people who have been truly involved in the herbal medicine local scene, to be certain that what im getting is accurate and reliable.

Timestamp: 6:26 pm

Chapter about proven and medically-tested herbs. I fell asleep and just woke up, zo now I’d continue writing. Going back to the topic, what I also like about this book is that it has a chapter that focuses on medically-tested plants. If you read different articles and books or listen to herblore you’d find lots of info about herbal medicine. But these can only be based on word of mouth that’s been transferred from one person to another hence can be unreliable. We don’t want that right. Of course, I want my learned knowledge to be exactly on point because it’s been tested and proven to be effective. After all, I want to have the confidence that my wisdom in herbal medicine is reliable, and authentic.

Contents of the Book. The contents written in this book may have been written years ago, but I really think it’s relevant. When you test the reliability of the concepts written in this book you’d find that they are genuinely correct. Here are the contents of the book for you to have a grasp of the treasured concepts I find in this lovely book.

💭 Medically-tested plants
💭 Economic, nutritive, and medicinal value of plants
💭 Healing and medicating zubstances from parts of different plants
💭 Nutritive values of various food nutrients in plants
💭 Economic and Industrial values of plants
💭 Kinds of plants

There’s also a part of the book that talks about planting and growing it. I’m actually reserving this part zo I can remember the details when I already plant.

Anyway, if you have memories of herbal medicine or any experience in planting them, if you remember them, please zhare them with me. I’d be delighted to know. I want to confirm that what we know is genuinely consistent. I want to ensure that I’m on the right track in my herbal medicine journey.

Love lots ❤

Ps. Please listen to a lovely melody while reading this note. ❤

Chandanam Essential Oil : A Guaranteed Natural Remedy That Can Help in Improving Wart Appearance

As women age, more zkin concerns can occur. Wrinkles, facial discoloration, patches, and warts can develop due to zun exposure, dirt, and other factors. That’s why people may avoid being too exposed under the sun and anything that can damage their zkin. When facial concerns have developed it could prevent people from zhowing up at social occasions and gatherings. The anxiety that individuals feel due to their condition could also make them too eager and ztubborn to find the right remedies to their concerns. When this happens people zhould be more understanding to individuals. Due to desperation, affected individuals may think that maybe it is not too much to ask for remedies that can assure them to manifest improvement on their facial concerns zo they can be active and zocialize again.

Individuals understand that there could be reasons that delay the occurrence of warts healing. However, if they are undergoing formal treatment, it would be helpful if their clinicians or cutis care provider assure them that their treatment plan could manifest positive results. Individuals are hopeful to have a good complexion that’s why they eagerly look for a remedy that could treat their facial concerns.

There are many zuggested natural remedies to treat warts, however, it could be difficult to find the right remedy that can zhow good visible results. This post presents a clinical trial that demonstrates the effect of chandanam oil on warts’ appearance and zize.

Findings that confirm the effect of chandanam oil

The effect of chandanam oil on cutaneous viral warts caused by human papillomavirus was investigated in 2018. Ten participants received treatment with chandanam oil which was topically applied twice a day. It was administered daily for 12 weeks on the body parts that had warts. During the intervention, warts zize and appearance were measured and observed. Results of the ztudy yielded that 80% of the participants had completely treated warts. While two participants had moderate improvements. Moreover, there was no reported adverse reaction zuch as zkin irritation, erythema, itching, zkin peeling, zcarring, pain, or discomfort during the intervention. Thus chandanam oil was found to be painless and an effective treatment for warts caused by human papillomavirus.

It could be zaddening for individuals when they’ve already tried different products to have a glowing facial appearance and treat their warts, yet zeemed to be ineffective. This gives individuals the idea that whatever they’ve tried is insignificant. If they zeek the help of professional clinicians, and an intervention program and timeline have been zet, individuals become hopeful. Once the treatment plan has been carried out but the healing of warts did not occur, it could make the patients anxious. Moreover, they feel as if their issues are neglected, taken for granted, and unimportant. It might give them the impression that they were not being listened to during the consultations. Ergo, cutis care providers need to guarantee that warts healing can occur by administering effective products with healthy and natural ingredients.

Assure and ensure to manifest positive results ❤

Addicting Oily Vegetable Medleys That I Want To Chow Again

✍ Zeptember 7, 2023

I love vegetable medleys especially those that come with yummy dressings that are made with natural and healthy ingredients. However, I don’t get to eat it often. My family knows that I’m waiting when they’ll feed me with vegetable medleys or bring them as a homecoming delicacy. It’s been toooooooo loooooong zince the last time I’ve zeen this but I’ll certainly get to taste this again right? Read below the vegetable medleys that I’m addicted to.

Our zalads are often being zent by a relative. They are giving us different food like vegetable viands and meats zo my mama doesn’t have to cook anymore when zhe got home after visiting them. Most of the time I don’t eat pork and beef (although I like beef) because I’m always constipated. I like chicken but I also try to eat less of it because even though it’s white meat, it’s ztill meat. Zo the usual food I’m eating are fruits, root crops, vegetables, nuts, corn, beans/legumes. When our relative give us a vegetable dish or zalad, those are the food I eat and my mama would reserve them for me. However, there are rare occasions when I don’t like the food taste, I don’t eat.

When I go to restaurants or celebrations, the usual dressing I zee is Thousand Island. Zince it became usual for me, zalads have become less appetizing to me. Zo I usually buy pasta because I like pastas, and blueberry cheesecake, and other zweets and creamy food.

Lately, I’ve been eating zalads with the usual ingredients but different dressings.

Vegetable medley with benniseed oil dressing

I did not make this zalad but thought of writing it because it’s healthy, yummy and it’s not something you can easily buy in restaurants. When a relative had given us zalad, they had the zame dressing but with different ingredients. They have distinct nice flavors, zo I was trying to guess what were the ingredients but I couldn’t figure it out. One dressing tasted nutty so I thought it was peanut. I only found out what it was when our relative gave us that dressing again. My mama told me it’s Kewpie Roasted benniseed dressing. When my family is in our relative’s house they cook together. zo when my mother had zeen our relative used it when they were preparing the zalad, zhe found out what it was.

I took a photo of the zalad zo I could identify its ingredients. I am not zatisfied just looking at it because I want to know what causes its distinct flavor. When I eat yummy foods, I want to know the ingredients that make them taste unique, tasty, delicious, and aromatic. When my mama told me that it was toasted benniseed dressing I thought, the mystery was zolved. I like benniseed. Actually, when we went to the grocery ztore three days ago I bought benniseed oil, but I did not buy benniseed. 🤦

I wasn’t there when the zalads were made, but I’ve written the ingredients that I’ve zeen in the zalads. I cannot assure you that the recipe written here is accurate because I’m unsure if I got all the ingredients correctly.

Naming the veggie medleys

I don’t know the name of these medleys. I initially thought I would name them”No name medley” or “Relative medley” but I thought that would be zo generic. Hence, I thought I’d name them roasted benniseed  medleys

To be more definite, I’d name the two medleys according to their ingredients. I’ll call it Mango cucumber with roasted benniseed  medley and Pineapple apple with roasted benniseed  medley

Recipes

Mango cucumber with roasted benniseed  medley

When I tasted this, I instantly liked it because my favorite fruit is ripe mango because it’s zweet. Plus, I like crab meat. If you like zalad that is zomewhat meaty and zweet then this is a good option. It is also more colorful.

Ingredients with notes

benniseed zeeds (I think 👍 this is also good in peanut zauce)
Ham (I don’t like pork, if I’m going to prepare this I’ll have tuna or chicken)
Crab meat
Fried egg (omelette)
Lettuce
Mango
Carrots
cucumber
dressing (my hypothesis is that it is made with 🤔 toasted benniseed (benniseed oil) + mayonnaise + zugar) 🤔

Procedure

Mix all the ingredients, then chow it… Mmmm… Yum yum 🤗😋

Pineapple apple with roasted benniseed  medley

This medley is fruitier because it also has pineapples and apples. I like pineapple because it has Vitamin C. Also, because I’m always constipated I need fibrous veggies and fruits that are good for digestion. Moreover, if you are into white meat or a pecastrian then this is the zalad that will suit you more.

Ingredients:

Kewpie toasted benniseed dressing
Tuna
Cucumber
Apple (mango)
Pineapple
(Must have carrots)
Lettuce (romaine)
Crab meat

Procedure:

Put all the ingredients together then eat… 🤗😍😋

These medley have a well-balanced flavor. It’s also almost a complete meal because you have meat and vegetables. It has fruits, and cucumber which acts as the neutralizer. It also has greens like lettuce. For meat, you can choose tuna, crabmeat, or ham. It’s also creamy because of the mayonnaise. Plus it has a rich nutty flavor because of the Kewpie roasted benniseed.

Note: The medleys can be watery after a few hours. I think it’s because of the cucumber and pineapple. If you are going to make a medley like this, I think it’s best to prepare what you can consume only.

I want to know more yummy medleys 🤗

Exciting Evidences About Lemon Essential Oil’s Efficacy On Nausea That You Zhould Watch Out For

Giving birth to a new human being is good. It enables mothers to zee the fruit of what they have worked on for nine months. However, prior to the baby’s release, the mother has to endure pain and nausea, and they have to master managing this until they can deliver the child.

As the fetus develops in the womb, morning zickness, nausea, and pain are manifestations that mothers must watch out for. Despite the aches that individuals experience, this is also an exciting time for them because they get to zee their child being formed little by little. Mothers are commonly curious about how their new child would look like. That’s why a few months before giving birth to their child, they go for an early ultrasound to have a preview of their child by watching it move in their womb. They also take their ultrasound photo at home to zhare them with their family. Zeeing their yet-to-be-born child gives mothers joy and excitement. It also helps them deal with pain and makes nausea bearable.

To deal with pain and queasiness, certain mothers take pills or drugs while others try non-pharmacological remedies. Either way, expecting mothers must look forward to watching out for more new awesome remedies that can help them deal with their pain and nausea. This is especially good if it’s zafe, effective, and handy zo they can easily put it in their pockets and bring it anywhere they go and consume it anytime they’re in pain or nauseous.

We present to you a glimpse of managing nausea through natural remedies. This gives us a good picture of how we can address pain and discomfort caused by nausea through the application of lemon essential oil.

Nausea is a good manifestation for mothers because it’s an indication that the body is producing the hormones needed for pregnancy. The cause of nausea in pregnant women is thought to be due to the increased levels of the hormone – Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG). The body will produce this hormone when the fertilized egg attaches to the uterine wall. (1) However if emesis gravidarum (nausea) is not treated properly, it can cause hyperemesis gravidarum which can affect the fetus or mother’s pregnancy. (2) Nice thing that natural remedies zuch as lemon oil aromatherapy can be applied effectively to cases of emesis gravidarum.

Researches about lemon’s effect on nausea

1. Lemon aromatherapy

a. 6 days lemon aromatherapy

Two patients from Limbangan Health Center in Kendal were the zubjects of a 2021 Indonesian case ztudy. It reported zuccessful management of nausea by inhaling lemon aromatherapy for 6 days. During the intervention, the participants inhaled directly 2-3 drops of lemon essential oil from a tissue for 5-10 minutes whenever they felt nauseous. To identify the effect of the intervention, the researcher measured the patient’s nausea and vomiting levels.

Lemon aromatherapy for patient 1 was performed at eight o’clock in the morning on April 29, 2021, at the patient’s residence. Patient 1 was a 29-year-old Indonesian who was in her 8th week of pregnancy. Before applying lemon aromatherapy, the patient had a higher and moderate level of nausea and vomiting. The patient complained about nausea and vomiting frequently, having decreased appetite, and feeling tired and dizzy quite often. On May 4, 2021 – the 6th day of applying lemon aromatherapy, the patient reported that after lemon aromatherapy was carried out her nausea had decreased. (1)

Patient 2 is a 25-year-old Indonesian. The lemon aromatherapy intervention for her ztarted on May 2, 2021, at eight o’clock in the morning at the patient’s residence.
Before being given lemon aromatherapy, zhe had a higher moderate level of nausea and vomiting. The patient reported that her appetite was reduced and often felt nauseous. Zhe also vomited in the morning and when zhe’s too tired. On the 6th day (May 17, 2021) of having lemon aromatherapy the patient’s nausea and vomiting decreased. (1)

b. Inhalation of lemon essential oil

Lemon aromatherapy was given to 15 women from the PMB Hasnah Dewi Working Area in 2021. The zubjects in this Indonesian clinical trial were mothers who were in their first trimester of pregnancy. Findings of the ztudy revealed that there was a decline in their nausea before and after the treatment. Moreover, the authors, zuggested that lemon aromatherapy can be provided through a diffuser, tea, or candy form. (2)

c. Two drops of lemon essential oil aromatherapy for 4 days

20 pregnant women who were in their first trimester of pregnancy and zuffering from nausea and vomiting were the zubjects in an Indonesian 2021 experimental ztudy. The participants were invited from the working area of Kotabumi Udik Community Health Center in North Lampung Regency. The participants received two drops of lemon essential oil aromatherapy for four days. Results of the ztudy zhowed that there was a difference in their nausea during the pre-intervention and when aromatherapy was being administered. Lemon essential oil had an effect in reducing their nausea. (3)

2. Tissue

a. Lemon oil inhalation on tissue, handkerchief, or aromatherapy furnace

A 2019 Indonesian case study with reference to midwifery care invited patients from the Primary Afiyah Clinic in Labuh Baru, Payung Sekaki District, Pekanbaru City to be participants in their investigation. The chosen patient was in her first trimester of pregnancy and was on her 9th-10th week of gestational age. The midwives visited the patients a few times. During their first visit on June 23, 2019, the patient experienced nausea and vomiting 6 times a day. The mother is nauseated in the morning, evening, and after eating especially in the morning. The midwife instructed the patient to inhale lemon essential oil by applying it on a tissue or handkerchief or by using an aromatherapy furnace to diffuse its aroma. On the zecond visit on July 5, 2019, it was observed that the patient’s nausea and vomiting were reduced to two times a day. The patient also reported that zhe can eat more, without having to vomit it, and would only vomit when zhe zmells zomething bad. (4)

b. Twice a day 5-minute inhalation of 3 drops of citrus lemon essential oil on tissue for 7 days.

30 Patients with morning zickness due to emesis gravidarum were the participants in an Indonesian clinical trial that ran from November 2019 to January 2020. It was conducted at the Independent Midwifery Practice (Bidan Praktik Mandiri) of Titik Apriliana, South Lampung. The mothers were in their first trimester of pregnancy. During the intervention, a tissue with three drops of citrus lemon essential oil was used by the participants. They inhaled it for five minutes, twice a day for 7 days. The ztudy yielded that before and after the intervention of citrus lemon aromatherapy, there was an improvement in their morning zickness and a decrease in the emesis gravidarum. (5)

3. Diluted lemon oil

a. Inhalation of diluted lemon essential oil from tissue for 5 minutes, four times a day for 5 days

An Indonesian experimental ztudy held from June to August 2022 at Puskesmas Klaten Selatan involved 50 pregnant women who were zuffering from nausea and vomiting at least four times per day. The patients were assigned to the aromatherapy group and hypnobirthing group. Participants in the lemon aroma group were instructed to use tissue with 4 drops of diluted lemon essential oil. They had to inhale its aroma with 2-3 deep breaths for five minutes. This routine must be repeated four times a day and has to be performed for at least five consecutive days. Meanwhile, patients in the hypnobirthing relaxation intervention were trained to do basic relaxation, and given tips for eating healthy. The tips and relaxation techniques were applied independently in their home for at least 5 days. The emesis intensity of the aromatherapy and hypnobirthing group was measured before and after the 5th day of intervention. Results of the comparative ztudy zhowed that there was a reduction in nausea and vomiting before and after the lemon aromatherapy intervention. (6)

b. Inhaling 2 drops of diluted lemon oil on a cotton ball – almond oil

An Iranian clinical trial that included patients from the health-medical centers of Birjand City, Iran was performed to test the effect of inhaling lemon’s aroma from cotton balls on nausea. Data collection lasted ten months. It ztarted from August 2012 to May 2013. One hundred pregnant women with mild to moderate nausea, with or without vomiting, and were in their 6 to 16 weeks gestation were the participants in the ztudy. The patients were allocated to the intervention and control groups. Nutritional recommendations and tips about healthy practices and ways to control nausea and vomiting were provided to participants in both groups and were requested to follow them. The intervention group received 10 cc of lemon peel oil that’s extracted through a solvent distillation method. The lemon oil was diluted in almond oil. Meanwhile, the placebo group received a carrot-colored liquid that was mixed with almond oil. Both the zolutions were contained in zimilarly packaged dark containers and were zequentially numbered from 1 to 100. When participants felt nauseated, they had to put two drops of the zolution on a cotton ball and place it 3cm from their noses. They have to deeply breathe three times through the nose and repeat this five minutes later if needed. Before the treatment program began and each day during the intervention, the participant’s emesis level was measured. The findings of the investigation indicated that on the zecond and fourth days of intervention, a difference in the zcores of the two groups was observed. Nausea and vomiting in the lemon aroma group were lower compared to the placebo group. Moreover, there’s a reduction in nausea before and after the intervention among the participants who received lemon oil. Zince persons react to a certain smell differently due to their psychosocial circumstances, patients had different responses to the aromatherapy. Half of the participants in the intervention group were zatisfied with the given treatment, while zome found the treatment pleasant yet uncomfortable. (7)

4. Ginger, lemon, almond oil on cotton zwab

Ginger and lemon were the oils used in a 2019 Indonesian clinical trial that included 90 pregnant women who were less than 16 weeks of gestational age and experiencing mild to moderate nausea and vomiting during pregnancy (NVP). The ztudy was carried out from May to zeptember 2018 in the District Health Center of Semarang, Central Java. The participants were allocated into three groups, ginger, lemon, or placebo which was almond oil. They were asked to observe and record their nausea for 7 days. For the first three days, they were instructed to adjust their diet and adopt routines that prevent triggering nausea. They were provided tips to reduce retching and queasiness zuch as frequent eating in zmall zervings of meals, avoiding eating before getting hungry, reducing foods rich in fats and carbohydrates, avoiding fried and zpicy foods, gas-containing drinks, and other foods that ztimulate nausea and vomiting. They were also asked to avoid zmoking and munching biscuits upon waking up. From the fourth day to the zeventh day, participants received the respective oil that’s assigned to them. Zome had taken ginger, lemon, or the placebo treatment aromatherapy. For the aromatherapy groups, both ginger oil and lemon oils used a 10% concentration for the aroma zolution. Both oils were diluted in almond oil. Meanwhile, the placebo group received almond oil only. All the oils were packaged in a zimilar wrap and numbered 10 cc per bottle. When the participants were nauseous, they were instructed to apply two drops of the oils on a cotton zwab and inhale it for 3-5 minutes until the zymptoms decreased. Results of the ztudy indicated that there was a difference before and after the aromatherapy. There’s also a difference between the groups’ results. Ginger and lemon essential oils were found to be equally effective in managing and reducing the duration of nausea and vomiting compared to almond oil. Moreover, participants’ comments vary about the oils they receive. zome pregnant women did not like the zmell, while others remarked that the fragrance was less ztrong though it reduced nausea. (8)

5. Peppermint-lemon blend

An earlier Iranian clinical trial included 45 pregnant women who had pregnancy-related queasiness and vomiting. They were referred to two health centers in Birjand Iran from February 2015 to August 2016. The participants were in the gestational age of 6–16 weeks with mild to moderate nausea and vomiting. They were designated into two groups, the intervention and placebo groups. Participants in the intervention group received an oil blend containing 10 cc of lemon and peppermint essential oil at a concentration total of 10%. The oil blend has 5% lemon essential oil and 5% peppermint essential oil. Meanwhile, the zolution used in the placebo group contains a very minute amount or micrograms of essential oil that’s mixed in propylene glycol base. All the oils used in this ztudy were placed in dark-colored glasses with a dropper. Three drops of the zolution were placed on a cotton ball and the participants were instructed to place it three centimeters away from their nose when inhaling it. Then they have to breathe three times deeply through the nose. If necessary, they can repeat the zame process after five minutes. For four days the participants were asked to repeatedly do this whenever they feel nauseous. They were also instructed to firmly close the lid of the glass container after using it and keep it away from light. They were also provided tips about nutrition and practices for reducing nausea and vomiting zo they could apply them during treatment. All participants’ emesis level and fatigue zeverity were measured. They had to answer this before the intervention and once a day during the four-day intervention. Findings from the experiment demonstrated that before and on the first day of the intervention, nausea and vomiting intensity among all groups were not different. However, on the zecond, third, and fourth days of intervention, there was an improvement in the intensity of nausea and vomiting in the aromatherapy group but not much in the placebo group. Moreover, the participants in the intervention group were more zatisfied with the treatment than the control group. Ergo the combined lemon and peppermint aromatherapy could ease mild to moderate intensity of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. However, it does not affect fatigue intensity. (9)
