What are the Different Anointing Oils in the Bible

Whenever an anointing will be made, oils are always being used by the people in the Bible. For each anointing purpose, there is a certain oil description to identify the ingredients, the quality of oil to be used (pure, fresh, sweet) and what is it for. Despite that there are designated formulations for each purpose, all of the oil blends have the same purpose – to anoint who and what God wants to be anointed.

To discover more, let’s dig into the passages below.

1. Holy anointing oil

The ingredients and the preparation for the holy anointing oil were particularly instructed by God. This holy oil is made of pure myrrh, sweet cinnamon, sweet calamus, cassia, and olive oil. (Exodus 30:23-25) It should only be prepared according to the work of the apothecary. (Exodus 30:25; 37:29)

It is used for anointing the tabernacle, the ark of the covenant, and the materials used in the tabernacle such as the table, vessels, utensils, candlestick, incense altar, burnt offering altar, all the utensils in it, and washbasin. (Exodus 30:26-28) It is also used to anoint Aaron and his sons to consecrate them. (Exodus 30:29-31)
It is considered holy, this, must only be reserved for God. The formulation must not be made for personal use, for other purposes, nor for anointing anyone else.

“23 Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels,
“24 And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive a hin:”
“25 And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be a holy anointing oil.” – Exodus 30:23-25

“And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be a holy anointing oil unto me throughout your generations.” Exodus 30:31

“And he made the holy anointing oil, and the pure incense of sweet spices, according to the work of the apothecary.” – Exodus 37:29

2. Oil of gladness

The oil of gladness is probably made of myrrh, aloes, and cassia as the garments of the anointed person referred to in Psalm 45:7-8 smelled like these aromatic plants. We assume that this oil blend was used for anointing the people that God has ordained to serve Him by doing certain tasks and purposes. While the holy anointing oil is reserved for the tabernacle and anointing the Aaronites, we assume that this might be used to anoint the servants of God who are tasked to do civic work, or guide God’s people. This includes judges, kings, and other individuals who are called by God to serve Him and His people.

“Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.” Psalms 45:7

“Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.” – Hebrews 1:9

3. Fresh oil

some old oils are recognized for their therapeutic benefits. However, fresh oil is the preferred oil to be used for anointing God’s chosen people. (Psalms 92:10). In 1 Samuel 16:1 & 13 and 1 Kings 1:39, we can read that the people of God took a horn to fill it with oil. Thus we conclude that the fresh oil was not contained in a bottle, but kept in a horn. This makes the container mobile-friendly and easy to carry because the horn is not fragile. This was well-suited during that time because people back then were traveling by walking or riding bumpy carriages. Moreover, using a horn will prevent the oil from being contaminated or exposed to light and other factors that could make it rancid. In addition, if the horns were properly sealed and handled well the oil won’t leak or be spilled.

“But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of a unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.” – Psalms 92:10

“1 And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.” 1 Samuel 16:1

“13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him amid his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose, and went to Ramah.” 1 Samuel 16:1,13

“And Zadok the priest took a horn of oil out of the tabernacle and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God, save king Solomon.” – 1 King 1:39

Through the particular instruction of God about formulation, preparation, and purposes of oils we can see that God has an enormous wisdom about oils. Hence, as the God that we worship is a God of certainty and also blessed us with wisdom and the ability to think, may we use these gifts and carefully choose our oils and remember their purposes.

For best results, always ensure that you know your oil’s purpose. ❤

(Ciele) How can Cedarwood Help in Improving Sleep Disturbance and Length of Dozing

Cedarwood oil is one of the oils that have a natural chemical constituent that can make you feel drowsy. Though it’s drowsing effect is less known, it’s proven by research. Its drowsing potential has been seen in different populations and ages. It’s ability to promote dozing has also been tested in animals. This post presents the efficacy of cedarwood oil in inducing sleep.

Drowsing chemical compound of cedarwood essential oil

Cedarwood essential oil is rich in cedrol (1) which is a chemical compound that promotes sleep. Essential oils containing piperonal, santol, linalool, and cedrol have a positive effect on sleep disturbance (2) as they can improve sleep length and lessen early morning awakening. To see this effect, you can simply wrap a towel with essential oil on the pillow and administer this for at least 20 days. (2)

Cedarwood essential oil’s potency and its sleep prolongation effect

An animal study conducted in 2003 reported the drowsing effect of inhaled cedarwood oil. It was observed that upon the inhalation of cedarwood oil, the accumulative spontaneous motor activity of wistar rats had decreased. Moreover, the pentobarbital-induced sleeping time was prolonged among the rats that were treated with cedrol. It was also found out that the aroma of cedrol is potent enough. Cedrol affected the prolongation of sleeping time even though the researchers tried to reduce the olfactory function of the rats by treating them with zinc sulfate (1) Meanwhile, the olfactory function of the rats that were exposed to lavender-roman chamomile mixed, was impaired, as it has been observed that there was a decrease in their sleep prolongation effect. (1)

Improving dozing disturbance and EMA

The effect of inhaling cedarwood essential oil on sleep disturbance has been investigated in a 2017 study. The investigation was conducted in early summer to full summer and 19 elderly subjects with dementia were chosen to participate in the study. Their age is 65 years old and above (≥65 years old) and was diagnosed by their nurses to experience sleep disturbance. The 100% pure essential oils used in this study were (1) true lavender, true lavender, and sweet orange oil blend (2) Japanese cypress, Virginian cedarwood, cypress, and (3) pine oil blend. The oils contain the chemical compounds linalool, santol, cedrol, and piperonal. The study period ran for 40 days, and the first 20 days served as the control period while the next 20 days was set to be the intervention period. The participants chose the essential oil and the amount of oil that will be administered to them. The amount ranges from 2–5 drops (0.1–0.25 ml). The participants were able to inhale the essential oil blends as the researchers wrap the towel with drops of essential oil around their pillow.

The results of the study suggest that inhalation of essential oils containing piperonal, santol, linalool, or cedrol can improve difficulties in maintaining sleep. The participant’s total length of sleeping time was longer during the intervention period than in the control period. Moreover, the documented longest sustained sleeping period was also longer during the intervention period than in the control period. Early morning awakening (EMA) decreased during the intervention period compared to the control period.

Parasympathetic effect of Cedarwood Essential oil

The use of essential oil with cedrol, piperonal, santol, linalool makes the duration of the longest sustained sleep period (DLSSP) increase and the early morning awakening (EMA) reduce because the secretion of serotonin and endorphins are promoted. (2) This results in the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system. The hormones/body chemicals endorphins and serotonin are needed to induce sleep. Endorphins have sedative effects, while serotonin promotes drowsiness by producing melatonin (otherwise known as sleep hormone) by binding enzymes. As people age, the secretion of melatonin also declines, thus resulting in lesser and disturbed sleep and more waking time. Administrating drowsing essential oils before sleeping would help to keep endorphins and melatonin remain in the blood during the time that we need to sleep. Having enough endorphin and melatonin in our blood, would enable us to stay drowsy, go back to dozing, and nap better even if we wake up in the early morning, thus increasing our sleeping time

The effect of cedrol on parasympathetic was also documented in a 2007 clinical trial paper. The results of the study yielded that cedrol has a tranquilizing effect on women despite the differences in living environments and ethnicity. The participants in this clinical trial are women from Norway, Thailand, and Japan with an age range of the 20s-40s. The survey result showed that Japanese women have the highest degree of perceived stress, and their sleeping time was shortest compared to the other nationalities. Despite the differences in women’s backgrounds, it’s been observed from the study that cedrol had a positive effect on their autonomic nerve activity, as the miosis rate of the participants that were exposed to cedrol increased. This proves that cedrol affects the parasympathetic nervous system. (3)

There are different oils out there, and the need to play with sedative oils might be fun. However, it’s important to remember that not all oils are effective in addressing a particular health concern. Remember that your goal is to find the most effective and therapeutic essential oil for you.

Happy playing

(Ciele) Proven Effects of Avocado Oil as a Cutis Collagen Production Booster

People have different opinions about collagen products. Some claim that you got to be skeptical about it because it’s not addressing your collagen concern. Some are doubtful because they say that Collagen is not being absorbed by the Cutis because its molecules are big.

While people are doubtful about Collagen products, you must analyze what Research has been showing you to figure out the truth. Understandably, it may get confusing when you hear a lot of reviews and opinions about Collagen products. But when this happens, please remember to not let this get to you. Please make sure that you remember what Research has been consistently showing you.

If researchers are not serious about formulating effective products for Collagen, They won’t spend time and put so much effort just to prove that there are Ingredients that are effective to boost collagen production. Researchers put much time reading and regularly wait for articles to know about recent ‘discoveries.’ They spend time to know more about Collagen, and write to ‘document’ their discoveries. Researchers have dedicated their work just to be able to formulate good and effective Collagen products. It would be disheartening for Them if We doubt their efforts, when in fact They spend so much time and effort proving that Collagen boosting products are effective and ‘you’d certainly love to have.

It is already a known fact that the Size of collagen molecules CANNOT penetrate the dermis that’s why EXperts think that applying collagen on the Skin won’t be effective as a skin care topical. Though this might have already been a topic before, this should not mean that we should get stuck in this. Instead of being stagnant in this, lets look at the what researchers have done. Researchers have already explored and moved on and indeed find Certain ingredients that are Effective for Collagen boost. So, the focus now should no longer be about the size of collagen’s molecules. What’s worth focusing now is the Ingredients that are Effective for Collagen Production. Continual discovery of Effective ingredients, would enable us to formulate more Collagen boosting products now and in the future.

Despite that we cannot increase our collagen by simply applying collagen on our skin, there are natural ingredients that we can have to boost the production of collagen. Avocado oil is one of the botanical oils that’s proven to be effective in increasing collagen density and metabolism. Moreover, there are different types of collagen in the body. To understand better about Collagen, it is crucial to focus only on one kind of Collagen. In this post, we focus on the effect of avocado oil on Cutis Collagen.

1. Topical application of avocado oil and collagen density

An animal study in 2013 reported the effect of avocado oil on the production of collagen..The study used 64 male and female Wistar rats with an age range of 3-4 months. They were assigned into four groups and received different treatments. One group received a topical application of a semisolid formulation of avocado oil (SSFAO), and others were treated with avocado oil. The other rats had oil rich in essential fatty acids (EFA) which served as a positive control. While the other group of rats was treated with petroleum jelly which was used as a negative control. The topical application of each substance was administered daily, once a day, for 14 consecutive days. (1)

The results of the study yielded that the rats treated with SSFAO or avocado oil increased in collagen density than with EFA control or petroleum jelly control. Hence this means that the topical use of avocado oil can promote increased collagen synthesis. (1)

It’s also been observed that rats that received SSFAO or avocado oil had an increase in their tensile strength which is an important factor in wound healing. It has been deemed from the study that there is a correlation between collagen density and tensile strength. The researchers concluded that the increase in tensile strength may be due to increased collagen synthesis. (1)

2. Ingesting avocado oil and cutis collagen metabolism

A comparative animal study in 1991 reported the influence of avocado oils on skin collagen metabolism. During the study, rats were fed with unrefined avocado oil while others were fed with refined or unrefined soybean. No effects were observed on the skin collagen of the rats that were fed with the refined or unrefined soybean. While the rats that were fed with unrefined avocado oil had an increase in soluble collagen content in the skin. The kind of avocado oil that was concluded to be effective is avocado seed oil. The increase of soluble collagen content in the skin was concluded to be due to the inhibition of lysyl oxidase activity. (2)

May it be ingesting or cutaneous application, Research results consistently and faithfully proves that Avocado oil ‘induce’ collagen. May the People who doubt the effect of Avocado oil see that Research is true to what it says that Avocado oil sEriously aids to increase collagen density and metabolism.

Why you should Listen to Aromatherapy Research Results than Marketing Messages

Just because we see that a product is being marketed as healthy, does it mean it’s really healthy? We have to figure out whether it is indeed healthy, or not to avoid misunderstandings.

Consistent research results

A side effect is a side effect. When research proves repeatedly that it is a side effect it means it is a side effect. You must not doubt what research has been telling Us repeatedly. We must believe when Research says that ‘we’ should avoid some substances because it was toxic to Others in the past. Research results won’t fool you, so you got to trust what it says.

Believing marketing messages than research results

With all the marketing messages that we see or read on different platforms, we may get confused and doubt what Research has been telling us. We might misinterpret marketing messages, and have the notion that we must buy and support some product, thinking that research also confirms that they are safe and healthy when it is not. Misinterpreting marketing messages will only lead us to having insecure thoughts and unnecessary stress. Marketing messages no matter how relatable it sounds, do not mean that it is the heart of what research results tells us.
Remember that marketing messages’ purpose is to sell a product to earn money. Only that. When see product description and well-presented images, we have to be careful about the perceptions we might have. We should not instantly assume that Research agrees nor confirm that they are healthy and safe.

since Researchers are fully aware of the side effects they warn us to avoid toxic substances. Conscientious researchers repeatedly remind us with gentleness and care that We should choose Essential oils that are known to be the better option because they are gentler.

Oil constituents and properties

Trusting what Research says prevents Us from having those side effects and being overly concerned about it. Listen to research results because some baseless claims and assumptions are not worth thinking about. If you understand what Research says and you know your Oil’s characteristics, constituents, and properties, you will realize It’s true effect on you. You won’t have to be confused, doubt or be stressed about unworthy worries anymore. Spending time worrying about and having unnecessary is not worth it. Understanding Research very well is they key to avoid misinterpreting and misunderstanding Oil’s effects.

Analysis paralysis

It is more productive to talk about research results that will help us grow together instead of worrying about side effects. Assuming that every action that ‘you’ do will cause side effects is not healthy. It is not good to interpret things that way, because it can only lead to analysis paralysis.

Research reassurance

Research results keep on reassuring us that we don’t have to worry if we choose the right Essential oil and we know how to properly administer it. Trust Research, because if we keep on doubting Research results, it only shows that you don’t know It that much and Its real nature.

Please make sure that when you weigh details between marketing messages and research results, you get the right measurement and judgment. Interpreting things wrongly can cause harm and hurt ‘you’

May this serve as a reminder that we have to believe in what Research says and not just rely on marketing messages.

Never doubt proven research results ❤

Leukoderma, a Depigmentation Problem Induced by neem oil

Neem oil is thought to be a medicinal plant that can cure some illnesses. With all the marketing messages about neem oil, the question we should ask ourself is, is this the appropriate basis for our notions? If we think it is, then have you considered thinking what does Research results consistently proves and tells us? Consistent proven results that have already been investigated in different occasions deserve to be trusted.

In this post, we present depigmentation concern due to neem oil.

Leukoderma caused by a neem oil product

A case of leukoderma that’s allegedly caused by soap-containing neem oil (Azadirachta indica oil) was reported in 2021. The soap contains aqua, coconut oil, glycerin, and neem oil. The patient was a healthy 71-year-old Japanese female who’s using soap containing neem oil to wash her face and hands for 1 year. Depigmented lesions/ patches occurred on her face, anterior neck, and hand’s dorsum. The test results revealed that she had perivascular and perifollicular inflammatory cell infiltration with melanophages. She had a decrease in melanocytes and a lack of melanin granules.

Since the areas where leukoderma appeared are the parts of her body where the soap was applied and rubbed, it was concluded that the leukoderma was caused by the soap containing neem oil. Hence it was recommended that the patient should discontinue using the soap. Refraining from using the neem soap also stopped depigmentation. Moreover, repigmentation has been observed even though there’s no medication being administered.

How can neem oil cause leukoderma?

The reason why neem can induce leukoderma has been explained in a 2020 study. The paper presented a case of lip (oral and labial mucosal surfaces) depigmentation in 14 patients who were chewing neem twigs or using them to brush their teeth. (2) Neem oil can cause leukoderma because it contains more than 30 substances that have an inhibitory effect on melanogenesis. Aliphatic compounds of phenols and catechols, p-phenylenediamine, and cinnamic aldehyde, are stated to be the chemical constituents of neem that can induce leukoderma because they are toxic to melanocytes. (2) Moreover, neem phytochemical constituents include limonoids azadirachtin of class tetranortriterpenes. (2) Due to the direct melanocytotoxicity of limonoids in neem, it can induce leukoderma.

From the presented reports we can understand that neem is a causative agent that can cause leukoderma. Hence this clearly tells us that neem-containing products is not for everyone.

No matter how much we assume that neem oil is good or must be the preferred option, Research results tell us otherwise because it’s not for all Individuals. Case studies have presented that it has side effects. And a side effect is a side effect. That’s why in different papers, Researchers warned us that ‘we’ should be aware of the side effects and if we know it’s not healthy for us then ‘we’ should avoid it. Aromatherapist Researchers also assured us repeatedly that Certain Essential oils are the right choice we can have because they are truly therapeutic and innocuous.

We repeatedly remind you to please know the characteristics and chemical constituents of your Oil. Knowing this will enable you to understand whether you should worry about a side effect or not. If Research tells you that it is a side effect then it is a side effect, but if Research tells you it’s not, then it is not worthy worrying about.

Focus on us, our betterment, and what will make us grow ❤

Efficacy of Vetiver Essential Oil Against Insomnia and Sleep Apnea

For most of us, dozing off is not a problem, however, there are times when sleep disruptors can cause us to stay awake at night. Others on the other hand, suffer from sleeping concerns such as insomnia and sleep apnea. While this might be a problematic concern in the past, it does not mean it should still be a concern at present or in the future. By pursuing a healthier lifestyle and knowing more about effective Essential oils, sleeping issues can be prevented and combatted.

Vetiver essential oil is one of the oils that can help people with insomnia. (1) In some forms of traditional medicine, it is being used during the massage and in baths to aid in managing insomnia (2)

How can vetiver makes you fall asleep? (tranquilizing effect of vetiver)

The sesquiterpenes compounds found in vetiver essential oil (VEO) help to make you fall asleep. (3) This compound stimulates gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). (3) When the aroma of vetiver essential oil has been inhaled, GABA potentiation takes place, and sleep is induced. (3)

Effect of vetiver essential oil on nap respiration

The effect of vetiver essential oil on respiration during sleep was investigated in a 2010 study. The research project included 36 participants. The materials used in the study are four substances, which include two essential oils and vetiver essential oil. Upon the application of VEO, respiration during sleep was evaluated using an olfactometer. Sleep respiration was measured every 9, 12, or 15 minutes during the entire night. Only one odorant was tested per night.

The result of the study showed that the odorants did not increase the frequency of arousal or wake. However, the effect was seen on respiration. The odorants briefly decreased inhalation and increased exhalation for up to 6 breaths. The effect of vetiver essential oil on sleep respiration persisted regardless of odorant valence or participants’ stage of sleep.

Knowing the right Essential oils will prevent you from suffering from sleep apnea and insomnia. Aromatherapists understand that the scent of oils can affect ‘Olfactory system. This olfactory system has an influence on sleep respiration, and our breathing when we nap can affect our sleep quality and may even keep us awake at night.

Aromatherapists can help in regulating nap respiration by advising their students to stay away from unimportant odorants that can have side effects on their breathing. They must focus and obtain the Essential oils that can help them have a good nap. Aromatherapists should also remind their Clients that this effective ‘remedy’ will be followed regularly to avoid nap respiratory issues.

(Ciele) Is Sweet Almond Oil Effective as a Moisturizer?

Dry skin is caused by different skin problems. One way of avoiding the discomfort and irritation caused by it is to use a moisturizer. Plant oils are commonly incorporated into the formulation of moisturizers because they are safer, healthier, and effective. One of the natural oils being used is sweet almond oil (Oleum amygdala) due to its emollient and sclerosant properties. (1) These properties can help to improve complexion and skin tone. (1) Moreover sweet almond oil has anti-inflammatory, (2) antioxidant, and photo-aging effects.

Take a peek at this article to know more about the efficacy of sweet almond oil as a moisturizer for different skin concerns.

Moisturizer for dry and xerotic skin

Winter months and other environmental exposure could lead to dry or xerotic skin. (4) Sweet almond oil contains high levels of fatty acids particularly oleic and linoleic acids, (2) which are recognized to have skin protection and hydration ability. Oils rich in fatty acids are helpful in the formation of main barrier lipids (ceramides, CERs) (4) Previous research has shown that a product containing sweet almond oil and evening primrose oil increased ceramide levels. (4) Moreover, the high content of oleic acid in sweet almond oil enables skin penetration of its active components. It is also a carrier for varieties of lipo-soluble actives. (4) These effects are the reasons why sweet almond oil is considered a good carrier oil and has been recognized to have skincare benefits for adult and juvenile applications (4)

Moisturizer for hand dermatitis

To treat hand dermatitis as well as prevent it, regular moisturizing of the affected area is needed. A 2018 study investigated the efficacy of a formulated moisturizer containing 7% sweet almond oil and 2% colloidal oatmeal. The findings of the study revealed that the moisturizer is a safe and effective treatment for people with moderate to severe hand dermatitis. (2)

Skin hydration effects

The effect on skin hydration and immediate and long-term effects on the skin barrier function of a moisturizer product containing sweet almond oil was investigated in another 2018 study. The oils that were used here are a licuri oil, catolé oil, and spent coffee grounds oil. Meanwhile sweet almond oil was used as a positive control. (3)

To evaluate the efficacy of the moisturizer, 30 healthy female volunteers aged between 18–40 years old participated in the study. The moisturizer was applied to the lower middle portion of their forearms. The two forearms were subdivided into three regions. One area was reserved for the cutaneous application of moisturizer cream containing catolé, licuri, spent coffee grounds, and sweet almond oils. The other specific region is for the placebo formulation. While another part was for the control area. (3)

Their skin was assessed by measuring the water content of the epidermis (WCE) and transepidermal water loss (TEWL). They were measured before and after 2hours of a single application and 20 days after the daily application. To evaluate the immediate effects of the WCE and TEWL, measurements were performed in an air-conditioned room, with an ambient temperature. Before measuring was perfomed, the subjects have to stay in the room for 15 minutes. (3)

To test the long-term effect of the moisturizer, the cream was applied daily on the lower forearm of the participants for 20 days in their homes. The volunteers returned to the same laboratory after 20 days, for new measurements.(3)

The findings of the study yielded that 10% of the oils in moisturizing cream have skin hydration effects, as the water content of the epidermis and skin barrier function increased. These effects resulted in the reduction of the TEWL. It has been shown that skin hydration and skin barrier function improved when compared with the placebo and control areas. (3)

Furthermore, the study demonstrated the immediate efficacy of moisturizer as it significantly increased the epidermis water content and function of the skin barrier after two hours of application. Meanwhile, the TEWL significantly reduced after 2 hours of application and 20 days after daily application, which could be interpreted that it has improved the protection of the skin barrier function. (3)

The formulated cream containing sweet almond oil increased epidermis water content (WCE). The effect of the formulated moisturizing cream and the placebo control (sweet almond oil showed similar results, thus proving sweet almond oil’s moisturizing and toning properties on dry skin. (3)

Moisturize well ❤

Who are the People in the Bible that were Anointed with Oil on their Head?

Pouring of oil on the head is how the religious ceremony of anointing the chosen person of God is being done. The Bible shows us in different passages that it’s done on different occasions to anoint different servants of God for different purposes.

This is being practiced by the people in the Bible regardless of their status or social standing. The person who anoints was traditionally being performed by the prophets of God. This is done before the ordained person starts to do his assigned mission or task. Common people also do this to show their deep adoration, and respect for a person they consider of high importance. Get to know more about the people that were anointed by having their heads poured with oil by reading more below.

Temple’s priest

People that were ordained by God to be his priest were anointed with oil. In the old testament, Aaronites – the descendants of Aaron that were preordained to become priests were anointed by having their heads poured with oil.

“And he poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron’s head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.” – Leviticus 8:12

Kings

When the Israelites asked for a king, he was anointed by the prophet of God. His head was also poured with oil. In 1 Samuel 10:1 and 2 Kings 9:3,6, we’ll discover that the anointing of oil was not just being practiced to anoint God’s priests, but also the people that He has chosen to govern his people.

“Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?” – 1 Samuel 10:1

“Then take the box of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the LORD, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not.”
“And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I have anointed thee, king, over the people of the LORD, even over Israel.” – 2 Kings 9:3, 6

Chosen ones by God are distinct. God allows his chosen people to be known. Anointing a person could be done in front of God’s people, elders in the church, fellowmen, dignitaries, or even the enemies of the chosen ones. Moreover, we conclude that pouring the oil on the head is a sign of submission to God’s will and a public declaration to show God’sappointed person.

“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” – Psalms 23:5

One that’s being reverred

The practice of anointing oil on the head is also being done by common people to show someone they honor that they revere them. Prophets normally pour the oil on the head of the anointed person. While women and people who show their submission and respect to someone and those who are in lower social standing anoint people by pouring it on other parts of the body like the feet. The woman who anointed Jesus before his death did not pour oil on his head. Instead, she poured the ointment on his feet.

“My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.” – Luke 7:46

(Ciele) What is the Relationship Between Poor Quality Sleep and Skin Aging

People typically associate lack of sleep with wrinkles and aging. If you are working on a graveyard shift, and you look a lot more mature, people tend to conclude that’s because of your lack of sleep. Wondering if this assumption is baseless or supported by research? Scroll down below to find out more.

Poor sleeper vs. Good sleeper

chronic poor sleep quality has been proven to have an effect on increased signs of intrinsic aging. Moreover, it can diminish skin barrier function. This has been reported in a research study in 2014.
In this investigation, 60 healthy caucasian women participated in the research study to identify the effect of poor sleep quality on skin health and aging. The subjects were assigned into two groups. The first group was poor-quality sleepers with a sleep duration of less than or equal to five hours (≤ 5 h). The second group is quality sleepers with a sleep duration between seven to nine hours (7–9 h).

Skin Aging and skin function

The findings of the study revealed that poor sleepers had higher levels of transepidermal water loss (TEWL). This condition can make your skin less hydrated.

Meanwhile, good sleepers have better recovery from erythema after 24 hours of exposure to ultraviolet. After 72 hours, they have 30% greater barrier recovery compared with poor sleepers. In addition, they have lower intrinsic skin aging scores.

Appearance satisfaction

The findings of the study have demonstrated that sleep has an effect not just on skin’s health but on women’s confidence with regard to appearance satisfaction. Good sleepers are more confident with their skin. They reported having better perception on their appearance and physical attractiveness, compared to poor sleepers.
